A Windy Day at The Pod
Discussion
A bit too windy really as it was blowing the wrong way and added 1-2 tenths onto everyone's times. Still, after a tiring day Richard (zr1forfun) ended up with a new personal best of 12.10 ,
I got a somehow got a perfect reaction time of .400 :bowtie:,
and after Richard very kindly let me borrow his drag radials
AND gave me good intsruction on how to get the best from them :teacher:
I also set a new personal best of 12.953 seconds which put me into the twelves for the first time ever:bounce: Yayy !!
I must also thank Phil for letting me buy his tickets at a discounted price, they were put to good use

reaction time doesnt count in the actual strip time.
clock only starts once car moves, until it crosses the line
lower terminal is sometimes due to the massively improved traction from the Drag Radials at start of track, which is where the time was gained.
Though generally terminals will stay similar, even with a good start or bad start. Overall power usually determines terminal speed, unless you muck up the run somehow.
In the first 60ft alone, he has gained around 0.3sec

Reaction time is from green light, until your car moves.
Although, I really dont get where the 0.4s comes from.
They say if you are less than 0.4s, you have jumped the light. You may have decided to go before you actually seen the green light, but surely anticipation of that happening should allow you to do so.

With a pro tree its 0.4 seconds between the three amber lights coming on at once until the green light comes on.
With a sportsman tree (which I've rarely seen the UK) The three amber lights ripple down in sequence to the green, each one coming on in half-second intervals.
Richard and I were discussing this on Saturday and concluded that the measured reaction time is the time between the last of the amber lights going on and when your front wheels move beyond the second "staged" light beam.
The idea being that you engage the clutch/release the brake/step on the gas when you see the ambers go on, the combination of your reaction time, any mechanical lag in the car, and the fact that you have to move forward a couple of inches to make the beam, should mean that the car moves away very close to that 0.4 or 0.5 seconds. Just make sure that you don't react too fast and trip the red !

Sort the weather out next time then will you.
Atleast it didn't rain...unlike Shoreham or Friday night
Can't decide whether it is Michael79, TEKWIZ or me that keeps causing the rain but that is twice this year the three of us have been drag racing and both times it has been wet!
Still had good fun though and I look forward to seeing the videos of the Saleen Mustang and Mr CamaroSS's pace car doing formation burnouts!
