National licenses are probably the majority and why should someone who didn't have a license in 2020 get a discount?
Seems a very fair offer to me.
I never gave an opinion in my post and I too think it is a great move from MSUK.Seems a very fair offer to me.
All I did was add some important information about the scope of the discount.

I was a first time licence holder in 2020 but with everything going on didn’t do any racing at all.
I’m ready for renewing my licence for 2021 hoping things will be a lot better this year.
Do I need to get another eye test done as part of the renewal? Having read the stuff I can’t decide if you need an eye test each year or if that’s just for your first application?

Apologies then. It came over to me as a whinge that it was only for certain people and not everyone. Guess I spend too much time online and expect the worst from people. All I did was add some important information about the scope of the discount.

Was wondering that myself, it's not clear from the renewal form but i've not bothered seeing what the online renewal or blue book have to say yet, but I have an inkling it may be every 2 years. My beef for this year was that was my first year needing an eye test for the license, but couldn't get an eyetest because lockdown, and MSA helpdesk bod didn't like my regular eyetest which was only 6 months prior. Delayed season ensued.I’m ready for renewing my licence for 2021 hoping things will be a lot better this year.

Yeah the renewal form I got in the post made me think it was needed - but the online version seemed to suggest maybe not. Generally speaking you wouldn’t normally get an eye test yearly at the optician anyway?
Even the ‘free’ eye test you get as a member of msuk is only every two years.

There is an extra piece of paper in the renewal pack that covers the medical situation. You may have missed it among the other bumf?Generally speaking you wouldn’t normally get an eye test yearly at the optician anyway?

The MS whatever need a reboot on their agenda. The racers ( competitors) pay for everything including track hire fees, scrutineering, marshalling and anything else submitted.
It's a non inclusive sport for rich dudes and enthusiasts like me funding the whole thing.
Slim it down and exclude the predatory liability corporate vultures to give it back to the good guys.

No I did see that, but again - it’s not very clear. Does ‘medical situation’ cover everything, including eye tests? Or does that mean the classes of licence which actually require a proper medical?Kinkell said:

Off you go then. Nothing stopping you from setting up race series of your own with your own governing body etc. It's a non inclusive sport for rich dudes and enthusiasts like me funding the whole thing.

And in what world do you think this occurs in then? It's a non inclusive sport for rich dudes and enthusiasts like me funding the whole thing.

Wouldn't matter who organised an event, they would still have the same liability.
Another question, who do you think should pay for you to go racing?
Also marshals don't get paid, in fact, it usually cost them to attend meetings. Most Medics could earn more money doing an extra shift at work than what they get from attending a meeting (plus many have to change shifts to be able to attend a meeting)

jumping back to the question on eye tests.
If you are renewing a race licence from the age of 45 years and over are required to complete a vision test every 3 years. have a look at Section H 10.1.11(b)
Cheers - that’s helpful. If you are renewing a race licence from the age of 45 years and over are required to complete a vision test every 3 years. have a look at Section H 10.1.11(b)
So from the sounds of it us under 45 are only required to do it for first time applications then.
Although, as per 10.2.c they ‘recommend’ you’re checked on a yearly basis.
Think I’ll stick to being tested two-yearly as per the advice of the optician
