I'm interested in an old (2005) car which was advertised on Gumtree.

The DVLA site shows:-

Tax Due: 1st October 2021
MOT Expires: 20th October 2021
Date of last V5C issued: 26th October 2020

Is this anything to be worried about - eg a dealer masquerading as a private seller?

Probably just taking a private numberplate off - if you post the reg I can try and find the last keeper change date for you.

many reason for issue

replace lost / plate change / move house / new owner are the most common

I messaged the seller, and he said the car has always been garaged, so it sounded like he'd owned it for a while. I'm hoping to go and see it soon.

The registration is SW05 AWJ

It comes back as 22/10/20 as the last keeper change for me...previous owner count shows as 4.

But - I'm just a hobbyist and not in the trade so I'm not 100% on the reliability of this. Maybe someone more in the know can double check it.

Regardless, it may be something like changing ownership in the family...I'd just query it and see what response you get.

If the car looks like a decent one then it doesn't really matter, anyway!
