Medium Saloon / Hatch advice
Discussion
I wonder if you boys and girls could help me along with a decision.
I currently have an E220 AMG Line on a MB staff scheme lease, which is now going back on the 29th Dec as the business I work for has been sold and I no longer qualify for the scheme.
Our new owners have increased my car allowance and I have been looking at all manner of lease deals, but as I do c20k pa anything I would class as remotely sensible is c£500pm and then maintenance to factor in on top. 520d M-Sport MHT for example.
So, maybe I will buy something.
I've been looking at Peugeot 508GT Line, Arteon, XE, something along those lines. Preferably 12m old'ish, auto, diesel. Spend, up to £20k should get me something.
I LOVE the look of the 508, and I can get a less than 12m old one for comfortably under my budget. BUT, there is something nagging at me that it's a Peugeot and it WILL have electrical problems.
Any other suggestions from the PH massive?
Thanks.

Firstly the 508's are as reliable as any of the German offerings so don't let 80's stereotypes put you off & I'd be looking at the GT rather than the Gt Line:

I hate to burst any bubbles but they're all about the same with none really feeling more special than the other, the Mondeo is a smidge ahead in the steering department & NVH but apart from that it just comes down to which one floats your boat (Mondeo for me) the 508 is a good pick as I said it's 508 in GT trim that's my second pick with the GT Mazda6 third.
I'm with you the S/V90 does nothing for me.
I'm with you the S/V90 does nothing for me.
I have some experience with the 508, we have a couple on fleet at work.
Comfortable cars, tons of space inside and generally good quality trim levels, ours are GT line spec.
The only negative from me is I find the controls quite un-intuitive, I find myself searching round for controls from time to time but that said I guess if you were using it as your sole or main car you would quickly get over that.
I would go for the Skoda Superb instead but that's more personal preference than anything.
