Hi all, hoping for some advice. Just refreshed all pads on my car with pagid and brembo track pads. The rear caliper on the offside was getting hotter than the nearside. Replaced that and all good.

Then noticed the front offside brake was a lot hotter than the nearside and also squeaking badly. Thought I'd replace that too given they're getting on a bit.

New caliper in and bled. On the test drive no squeaking and breaking seemed good. Stopped and found the same caliper had heated up a lot more than the nearside.

How do I fix this? At a bit of a loss.

Car is a 2005 BMW 130i on standard brakes.

I've heard of hoses failing internally so that a flap of rubber forms a sort of one-way valve. If you have pressure at the caliper end of the hose but not at the other end, that would explain it.

Also check the wheel bearings. If you have more play on one side it will be trying to push the pad back further and causing some pressure just from the stiffness of the seals..

Wheel bearings seem good, there was no play when I tried to rock the wheel back and forth. Looking like hose could be the culprit.

One other thing, the pads have prongs that slot in to the piston. I had to bend these to fit them in. Could bending them too much cause it to not seat properly?

Wheel spins by hand fine btw, ever so slightly touching of pad to disc.

See if you can reproduce the situation where one brake has got hot and is dragging slightly. If you crack a hose connector or bleed nipple and it releases pressure, you're looking for a hydraulic problem causing the brake to drag. If it doesn't, you're looking for a mechanical one.

You may have replaced the caliper itself, but did that include the slider? Was it free? Was it greased? Are the pads free to move in the caliper itself?

I have come across pads that aren't as well made as others & have got stuck in the caliper itself before now.

Just went through MOT, passed but with advisory to the offside brake hose deteriorating. Suspect this may be culprit. I'll replace and report back.

Yes to all the questions, all seems fine to me.
