Private car sale - Tier 3

Anyone know where you stand with purchasing a car privately from a Tier 3 area? I can't find clear guidance on private sales..

If you are particularly concerned about abiding by the rules you could stand and do the whole transaction outside on the roadside?

In a similar problematic situation (and to be honest, thinking of just storing it somewhere SORN until Spring). Test drives would also be difficult unless you're happy handing the keys over and not accompanying.

you can buy cars so not sure what guidance you want.

if you want a test drive both wear a mask, complete transaction outside.

If whilst you do all these a policeperson passes then you explain the situation and go on with your lives..

All guidance is for dealerships.. No mention of private sales. Plus travelling from a Tier 2 to Tier 3 area. Just trying to clarify I'm not risking adding £200 to the price of the car, as there is nothing black and white that I can find.

Technically not as I already have one, but it is to replace it, same as most people buying a car.

then just buy it, and if the police stop you explain the situation.

Not so likely this time. Clear instructions from the College of Policing to Enforce only when every other option is exhausted.
