Yeti or Freelander

I'm looking to replace our elderly Focus with something capable on green lanes. Not serious off roading, just tracks for us to reach good places to ride our mountain bikes.
Usually only two of us travelling with 2 bikes which we prefer to carry inside the car.
Considering 2013 on Freelander or Skoda Yeti.
Anyone on here driven and/or owned both?

I’ve been impressed with the (much older) Freelander 2 we got in the family earlier this year. It needed some work (rusty sills under the plastic, rear wiper, key fob refurbs) but it goes and drives well, feels like a quality product (in some ways more than the L322 that we had previously) and has been cheap for things like a cambelt and some other parts.

OP, the boot isn't that big on the Yeti. Be sure to try the bikes in the back first.

Although Yeti has smaller boot, the rear seats are very flexible.
All three fold and tumble and can be removed completely if needed, independently.
I loved my Yeti. Get one with Xenon headlights.
Only bad thing is, they, like some other VAG cars can suffer from zinc inclusions on the doors. It's a well known issue and if spotted, skoda dealers will fix, generally with 5 new doors.

For greenlaning I would go Freelander. I'f buying a Yeti, try and choose one without a sunroof as some have had leaking problems.
I've just sold my 300tdi LR Defender that I've owned for the last 15 years, and bough a 2017 Yeti diesel 4x4 (long story). To carry my ebike I've bought the Thule Easyfold XT which when folded fits into the boot perfectly..

Yeti's are really decent to drive (i've had both diesel 4x4 and petrol 2wd). Definitely go for manual IMO. The DSG box in my petrol 2wd was bloody awful, constantly changing up to top gear at 30mph and making the car audibly labour, it was terrible!. The manual gearbox of the diesel was far better to drive.
Boot size of the Yeti isn't great, but neither is the FL2 from memory. Back seat legroom in the Yeti is tight too, I found. It is after all, a somewhat small car.
Freelander 2's are also a great choice, I test drove one last year and loved it, i'd probably have one over a Yeti personally, just for the better auto gearbox.

You won't get 2 mountain bikes in the back of either even with the seats down. Unless you've got 2 extra small bikes and are willing to dismantle them.
Go for something like a Hyundai Santa Fe. Bigger, more reliable and proper 4wd like the Freelander.
