Victim of Identity theft - Advice?

Was speaking to a friend last night, it turns out her ex boyfriend has applied for shed loads of credit in her name.
She was seeing him about 6 months ago and lent him £1500 for something or another. She gave him her bank details in an innocent belief that he would pay her back, Now he's disappeared and she's getting final demands from creditors on stuff she didn't buy and from finance companies she wouldn't use (she works for a major bank)
She's reported it to the police, but they have no record at all of the guy... he doesn't exist! Worst of all, the address we all thought he lived at was on a dodgy sub let, so theres no record there either.
Where does she stand with the Bailiffs and getting her money back. I have suggested she gets a credit check done on herself through experion to find out exactly what she owes and where.
How can this guy be traced? I thought he would have had credit somewhere, after all he was a proper flash bastard, had all nice clothes, car, latest phone etc.
Also any advice from the PH legal team would be appreciated. Poor Cow :(

He sounds like the sort of bloke who has a few women financing his flash bastard lifestyle, in which case I doubt you'll ever trace him because I would assume any names and addresses he uses would be false.
I assume your friend has reported him to the police?

Her boyfriend is a BiB so thats taken care of, Don't think he used a false name... not sure he was smart enough for that
