Which car for my mum out of these two?
Discussion
My mum needs a new car as her Passat is a bit ropey now and doubt it would pass an MOT...
Car 1: 2009 Volvo 2.0 Diesel V70 £3150 (they'll take £3000).
-123k miles
-Dark grey
-Cambelt recently done (supposedly)
-Leather interior
-6 months MOT
-Good tyres all round
-Private seller
-Service history

Car 2: VW Passat R Line 2010 2.0 TDI (£2999)
-104k miles
-Black
-1 previous owner
-Fabric interior
-12 months MOT
-Good tyres all round
-Dealer
-No mention of service history

I'm thinking based on the points I've listed the Passat might be better as it's less mileage and a longer MOT but no service history?
Which would you guys go pick?

Hard to say.
They both have plus points.
Check if the Passat has SH. Being a 1 owner car I'll be surprised if it hasn't and it looks like it's been looked after as well.
Mileage difference isn't an issue IMO. V70 wear the miles very well.
The 134 bhp engine is ok but it's a big car to lug around. I'd prefer the 163 version or the D5.
Volvo would win inside with superb seats and leather.
I drove my B in L's similar aged Passat TDi a few months ago and was impressed. First one I had driven.
Don't think you'd go wrong choosing either of them (not helping am I

)Cheers all, I'm actually swaying towards the Volvo now just for the service history, would £3000 be a fair price?
Checked MOT history and there's nothing alarming, just worn tyres and pads.
I got her Passat 4 years ago, 12 months MOT and a full tank of Diesel for £1k, seems the Rona has hit car (shed) prices a bit!

Passat out of those two, or a Mondeo Titanium X:
