Buying (viewing) cars in covid restrictions
Discussion
I know that dealerships are currently closed and that dealers can still sell cars via home delivery etc, so does that mean the good old fashioned test drive is no longer an option?
I've have only ever once bought a car I didn't drive and that ended up costing me a bit of money to repair, but the car was cheap (£600), but I wouldn't want to take the risk of buying a car (£20k in this case) without testing it first. I assume that this is just going to be a case of wait until restrictions are lifted which is fine, but I guess in general, what are people actually doing when they're buying cars at the moment?

Paying for a mechanic to inspect and testdrive before I collect a couple of days later.
£100 well spent I reckon, though it depends on the value of the car.
For me I want to make sure it is the right car for me. If I don't gel with the car on the test drive then it stays with the owner / dealership. I'll just wait until we're allowed to visit dealerships again. If only the gubberment weren't so wishy washy and realised that it isn't the "grown ups" spreading corona.£100 well spent I reckon, though it depends on the value of the car.
If you have a serious interest I’m sure the decent, established independents will open in a flash, and proceed as normal with a token nod to sanitiser . One near me was well and truly shut during the draconian lockdown, but now common sense seems in evidence, with some nod to ‘click and collect’. You would probably ring first anyway, to get the ‘flavour’ of the outfit
