Looking to replace my Civic with a budget of £8k

I’m looking to replace my 06 Honda Civic as the car is becoming a money pit. So I’ve decided to trade it in. I am looking to get possibly something nice for work.

I currently do around 4K. I need something with a decent boot for hand tools and power tools. So I may also consider an estate. So the criteria:

Petrol
Automatic if possible
Gadgets if possible
I’m not too fussed on fuel or tax.

Some cars that I’ve looked at include:

Skoda Superb
Mercedes E Class
Volvo V50/V70

He has a Skoda and a Volvo on his list. I doubt he’s a badge snob.

A Mondeo is not a bad option. I’m not bothered about the badge. Rather something that’s nice to drive and lots of gadgets.

I have a 2009 Titanium. Heated screen, heated seats, climate control, cruise control, voice control for climate and music etc. Huge space in the car and hatch, decent ride and great reliability. Good value too.

I’ve also seen a Skoda Superb with a 3.6 which looks interesting.

That sounds Good! The only thing lacking in my car is a nice 6 cylinder engine.

I’ve also thought about possibly a 5 series or Jaguar XJ buy being petrol I’m not sure what car would be best as I also want something that’s quite quick lol.

It depends on your definition of quick. I don't have any first hand knowledge of those cars. The ecoboost 2.0 is pretty quick to me.
