If you didn't already know, this is what they look like. You pull out the triangle base to fit it more snugly.
He (I have a vague feeling his name is Richard) 3D prints them.

Has anyone with one of these painted/covered one? I'm happy with the quality but think it just doesn't quite fit in colour/texture wise. I was wondering if it could be trimmed in vinyl. to match the trim.

I'd be seriously impressed to see someone cover that shape at home and make it look respectable, I think painting or flocking it would be the best bet. Could see if the man who makes them would do a run of different colours

I respect your opinion, but when you are driving the car it is out of your eye line.
You could always carbon fibre the dash to match whistle

I experimented with covering just the top surface. Didn't look very good.

They are made of ABS and will take automotive paint very well so can be colour matched to interior (to an extent, paint colours allowing) or to the body. The surface can be sanded to remove the layer lines if painting but it takes time to do that as the ABS is pretty tough. A filler primer is probably a better option, followed by light sanding.

Note the picture posted on this thread is a very early one. The small 'red bull' sized insert ring is not made anymore.

Did you look at acetone vapour smoothing, since it is ABS? I know it needs a bit of setup etc, so isn't a 5 minute job but am guessing you have a good set up already if you are getting ABS to print that nicely with quite a sizeable print.

Maybe I'll look at sanding and painting.

I use a hybrid ABS that doesn't respond to acetone smoothing.

Has anyone got a link or contact for the guy selling these?

Have you tried emailing him via his profile? (ric355 above, I think, judging by his comments)

Love that, but I am not on Facebook. Any other way to get hold of one, or in touch with the guy who makes them?

Richard Metcalfe is the gent's name. He's on the TVR Chimaera group on Facebook and usually advertises his production runs there. Great item too. I do have the desire to try and upholster mine though. Does he take emails/DMs via Pistonheads?

Hi ric355
I could be interested in one of your cup/phone holders but I’m a bit confused.
When you go onto your website it says “out of stock”, but within the site it would allow me to order a black one?
Also there is no contact information on your website?
So do you still make them and are they available at the same price?
