weird zig zag sort of line in the paint

Hello...
Got out the car today and noticed a couple of weird looking zig zag sort of lines. Looked as though it was a scratch, but the surface is totally smooth to touch. Location - above the rear wear driver's side - just before the curve to the flat part of the body. Car is an S2 111S. Is this some sort of under the skin cracking in the paint?
edited to add, there is more than one of these weird zig zag sort of things, and the longest is about an inch and a half long!
