M2 Comp Tuning
Discussion
I wouldn’t dream of mapping such an expensive new car these days. Personally the risk is too high, I have had a car I loved die this way. One month out of warranty. Company is well respected tuner but I was on my own and I knew it. Forked out for new engine fixed and sold. Last time I modified an engine. I have ensured I now always have warranty and stick the the terms of it. I changed the grills and the mirror covers on current M240i and I’m done. Powerful enough for me. Handles pretty well too, ok not obviously as well as a M2 Comp (wish I could have one!)

Does any one have any experience of tuning the M2C?
There are so many options for re-programming and box tuning.
reprogramming can be detected...I believe?!
But box tuning can be messy to install and look after...
M2c = m3 and m4. Best one would be coding to m4 gts or m3 cs map, don't bother with tuning boxes. There are so many options for re-programming and box tuning.

If you want to shod off the warranty bm3 100% hcp makes the base maps for bootmod3 plus you get access to a whole lot of features and diagnostics. M2c as with m3 and m4 is pretty reliable, put proper oil 5w40 or 5w50 redline or motul, pay attention to your coolant (cooler leaking) change it before 8000 miles and do the crankhub upgrade.
BMW isn't too picky in denying warranty on non engine related things if you have mods on it.
I wouldn't sweat mods and losing engine warranty unless you are running it on a tight budget. UK as plenty of M car specialists, plenty of parts going around for not that much money when compared with other markets.
Bootmod3 will get my money come the time. Its an easy way to flash a variety of BMW developed S55 maps which seems the lowest risk way of getting more power, then there is of course the option for the staged tunes which seem a little more conservative than the UK tuners offer.
I've heard the M4 CS map, or the tweaked CS+ map as being quoted as the sweet spot for the M2C as it keeps the torque in check but adds boost and timing where the M2C map has been neutered. They offer up ~470hp and ~450lbft.

I got my M2C to 560bhp with a custom map although its currently back at 410bhp with most mods removed.
BMW have clamped down on modding/maps - every time the car is plugged in at the dealership the data goes to BMW HQ to be used against you come warranty time, they have also blocked the OBD port from being used to flash maps unless you do a bench unlock of the DME first.
power wise they are massively easy to get power from, BM3 is the go-to for the map, loads of choice and power levels available, you are able to change maps on the fly and there is a good community for custom maps. The stage 2 map (included for free) got me 530bhp with intake, decat downpipe, mid pipe and rear section - that's it!
If you are still looking to get more power, my downpipes are currently for sale, super sprint ones that cost me around £1600 a year ago but I'll taker any sensible offer really.

Thanks for all the advice Guys! Appreciated.
I was undecided and now I am still undecided..
To quote one of our colleagues.....look at the driver..
I think I will do that and learn to get the most of out of the car....
If it helps you to decide any more, i am enjoying the car a lot more now its back at 410bhp rather than 560. I was undecided and now I am still undecided..

Don’t understand why you need more power in an M2C for road or track. If you feel you need to go quicker, look at upgrading the driver - no warranty issues and the upgrade is transferable.
This. And upgrade the roads. I only have the OG M2 and it's plenty quick enough on most tracks, let alone on the road.
Since July(?) any remapped car when plugged into BMW's software throws up an error telling the operative that there's suspected engine tuning and to investigate further. I wouldn't want to compromise my warranty.
If it's on finance, it's a breach of the Ts & Cs. People have had a bill for the full price of the car land on their doorstep.

A very public guy who hadn't just remapped his car but had upgraded to Twin Hybrid turbos and many other mechanical changes and then made several videos to hundreds of thousands of views online.
Your average guy who has a simple remap this would never happen to.

Is that LLF by any chance that drives like loon and recently involved in a fight at Vmax by any chance?A very public guy who hadn't just remapped his car but had upgraded to Twin Hybrid turbos and many other mechanical changes and then made several videos to hundreds of thousands of views online.

Seems he’s also best mates with Imran at Evolve.
Can’t believe Evolve have anything to do with watching the atrocious driving on public roads.

Imran seems OK, even if their dyno figures are laughably high.
I've met Ricky from LLF fast. He wasn't interested in a friends very unique build , he just wanted to look at the mainstream stuff (Mapped Golf R etC).
I think many of us have driven from time to time like Ricky so I won't judge him for that.
And likewise the fight, unlike "DMO" , Ricky had the decency to at least not make 15 videos about it.
All I was saying is that if you buy an M2C used and put MHD on it or some other custom remap, you won't have any issues with finance being cancelled or such like. Unless of course you achieve hundreds of thousands of views
