Having recently sold my Forester STi, I been on the lookout for something slightly bigger; more comfortable; with plenty of performance; auto and preferable a V8. For the money, I've always been a fan of the STR, so when come up for sale that looked a good 'un [happened to be quite local, had a great service history and a ton of invoices from Farriers Jaguar in Leicester], I jumped on it smile

I've got a few plans for this one...

- Starting with a professional detail to hopefully sort a few scratches, get the black paintwork looking nice and shiny and sort the misty front lights.

- The alloys could do with a refurb [you're going to hate me, I may go dark].

- It's far too quiet so something has to be done to the exhaust to give me more of a V8 rumble.

- I wouldn't mind dropping it a touch, so it hugs the lovely 19s more.

- And I'd really like Apply CarPlay [I need to find out more about JagDroid].

Hopefully I'll get chance to give her a clean myself soon and take a few more snaps.

Those BBS Barcelona Alloys are v spendy to replace if you can find them (so take care)
dark will be dreadful I think.
on the Jag Forum there was a member who made a Stainless intake (caldoofy IIRC)
and a set of rear boxes give it the sound it deserves.

Do not let the Battery run down or the Handbrake will play up.
Check the body under the plastic sills as they can rust badly.
I highly recommend some EBC redstuff pads far less brake dust and better stopping.

Don't worry, I will think long and hard about the colour smile

Ah yeah, it didn't mention, it has already got a stainless intake.

Sill covers were removed in 2018 and 'protected' by Farriers. Will probably get them checked again.

Agree a gentle lowering would improve the looks, go easy on her though, she's a sophisticated older woman hehe

Those wheels look lovely, haven't seen them on an STR before. Pretty please don't go dark, the contrast makes them stand out (as they rightly should) and it'll just look like every other murdered out drug dealer spec barge getmecoat

Good choice anyway, look forward to hearing more.

Are there indicators in the outer headlight? If so, could you get away with wrapping the orange ends in front of the wheels body colour? Just out of curiosity really, they just look a bit.. naff there.

A friend used to have a similar black STR with Vulcan wheels in graphite colour- I always thought it looked mean. Though, your style of wheels do look good silver.

I owned a X350 Super V8 for 5 years, did all the common performance mods to around 450bhp. Sounded awesome with intake, pulley & exhaust:

Jagdroid is about £600 but you will need an additional dongle to allow it to support CarPlay

Lovely Jag. I do like the wheels, and it would benefit from a little drop

Watching with interest.

Beautiful car op, can’t beat a V8 to burble about in either.

Nice car.

I have a set of lowering springs (H and R) for the STR. Very little mileage. Quite a few other odd bits too so if you need anything send me a message.

When i had my STR i went down the rear muffler delete route (straight pipes from mid box back) sounded great BUT it droned in the car at cruising speed - i also only realised just how loud it was when my wife took it out.
If i had my time again with it i would get proper back boxes fitted that give good sound but not obnoxiously loud.

You can also get a smaller SC pulley increasing power output.

That's lovely; great alloys too... Deffo stay silver, maybe add a sparkle lacquer etc smile

Always wanted one of these; can't fit in them though unfortunately. Just too narrow inside frown

That’s nice. I wouldn’t mind picking one of these or the x type up at some point as a second car.

You look like you’ve got a great example. I know it may be sacrilege but if the jag is BRG (or similar green) as it looks, could try bronze wheels?

Probably the car I regret selling the most, such a great all-rounder

A number of owners have changed the orange lenses to clear, so I may go that route.

If I hadn't of reduced my budget and need a car that fits in a single garage, I could of gone for an XJ. Was that yours in the vid?

I knew it wasn't cheap! Do you have it?

I certainly want to avoid a drone at cruising speeds. Think I need to meet up with other STR owners and see what they're running smile

I'm 6'6" but not very wide, so the inside isn't to narrow for me. I wish the seat dropped a tad more, cos of my long legs, but it's a much better fit than my Subaru Forester STi was!!

It's black [I wish it was BRG], but I have been wondering how a dark bronze would look. Would it be a bit to JDM?!

I'm not a huge fan of dark alloys on dark paint, but you could go down the route of a grey/silver lip with a dark alloy?

Different style of alloy, but the same paint idea:

Unfortunately I am; 6ft 4, 22 stone competitive powerlifter/stone-lifter etc... Big, wide back/fat arse and big legs etc...

I've sat in a few, my pal had one and it was a stunning car; but once the doors shut I can't move and that's no good frown

But, the XJR is a good fit and on my radar as my next car if/when I sell my current E39 touring biggrin
