Right time to sell

Hi All,
Now that I am getting paid for a car allowance, it is time to get a new motor, replacing the Corsa Sting (the red car with white stripes) by something like a Leon.

The problem, I need to sell my Corsa first, to gather the right amount for the leasing deposit, however, for the right amount I need to sell privately.
How long will take? I don't know.
But I have been told that a leasing car may take 3 weeks to be delivered.

How should I manage this?

Could you not pay the deposit on a credit card and then pay the card off when you sell yours

Well, credit card, could be an option but too risky.

Once I found out when the car is to be delivered, I will look around and try to sell it.
How easy is to sell a car privately?

For a car at that place on the market i would expect it very easy to sell....just price it right. Think what's more important, getting that extra 10% or getting your deposit.

Your best bet is still to stick it on a CC then you are not without a car (if that's an issue)

Why not save up the deposit amount required first and then you can sell the Corsa at your leisure without needing that money?

I just sold a cheap Mini Cooper S via facebook marketplace. Lockdown and Christmas coming upon means it's not the easiest to sell a car right now. I had it listed a few places but gumtree and FB were the only places that produced enquiries.

I'm scanning the usual places looking for a cheap replacement at the moment (need something big). The likes of eBay, gumtree etc are absolutely FULL of cheap small cars so can't imagine its that easy to shift one unless its a bit special or very cheap.

I sold a cheapy in December a few years ago on Gumtree without too much trouble.

I think cheap and cheerful cars still sell OK this time of year as there will always be people whose car has suffered major issues - whether mechanical or MOT - and just deperately need a car so look for a cheap runner.

It's much harder to shift anything dearer because everyone seems to lose interest in cars until after Christmas as I found out last year! It took until February and I still had to let it go cheap.

I checked in Facebook, and they are similar models of mine being sold by more than £600, of we by any car, or part exchange, will offer.

I prefer to live for a couple of weeks with less £500 of a leasing deposit than losing £600.
