Cinema Bootlegs-Idea to stop it

OK I have had a brilliant idea of how to stop people in cinemas copying films. But where do I turn to? I have looked on the net and found nothing that comes close to it. I need to get this idea sorted out before someone else patents it?

Have you considered contacting the patent office? You should that first before someone else patents it.

Yes - it's complex and expensive.

Are you sure your idea will work? If it is relient upon technology I would advise you to build a prototype first.

I had an idea a few years ago, but at the time couldn't afford the cost of patenting it, so it's still stored away in the seive I call my brain.

I'd start by looking on the patents already lodged and see if anyone has has the same or similar idea as you.

I tried to patent something about 2 years ago, but as it was an online service the patent office told me to get lost.

If your idea is for a product then I'd just call their switch board and see what they say.

Its not anything to do with magnetic fields is it?.

I read somthing about a bloke with this idea but it was rejected because of possible health implications and unhappy cinema goers who couldn't watch the film because their pacemakers had stopped.

I must confess that I am getting increasingly irritated with all the anti-piracy adverts / information announcement things one has to sit through at the cinema these days.

PIRACY IS THEFT. IGNORANCE IS NOT AN EXCUSE. etc etc.

Now I have paid good money to be sat there being treated like a potential criminal.

If I buy an ice cream and hand over money, am I subjected to a load of abuse by the ice cream man that stealing ice creams is theft? Nope.

People who pirate films know that they are breaking the law. So why accuse legitimate punters of being potential pirates?

Is the idea to increase the maximum penalty from 10 years imprionsment up to hanging or electric chair.

Ten years for using a video camera in a cinema.

You'd only get half that for rape, if you're really unlucky.
