It's the Nurburgring 24Hr race weekend, one of the greatest races of the year. Sadly no spectators this year but will still be a great race.

The Top Qualifying for the teams who made it through to the Pole shootout is about to start.

Looks pretty challenging conditions at the moment.. which is the default for the Ring I suppose.

How do they stop spectators there are so many access points round the Nordschleife ?

Mate of mine is competing in it, there has already been alot of drama, Hyundai withdrew over BoP, a couple of cars have already been in the wall as well a few lunched an engine in practice and are going home too.

They are allowing a restricted number of spectators within the GP loop grandstands. They will have shut the other public car parks and expect there's a bit of a security / police presence to enforce it all.

Can't see the Manta on the timing, has it not taken the start?

Not taking part this year.

Only 90-odd cars this year, well under half the usual numbers.

I'm surprised there's such a reduction in numbers, the last NLS race I watched (which I think was the last before the 24) had 150 odd entries

Daily Sports Cars has compiled a great list of race resources:

http://www.dailysportscar.com/2020/09/25/nurburgri...

including a link to an enhanced timing screen that includes the message feed in English (main N24 page has a ticker in German for them with the skills or a sense of challenge/adventure):

Conditions absolutely awful right now. One of those times I'm just glad to be a fan, playing ACC, slurping the occasional cider, with the race on the laptop!! hehe

I think Alex Brundle summed up the conditions quite succinctly there.
