Aston Martin rapide or m5?

sorry if this is in the wrong place but anyway.
ive recently found my self in a position where i can buy something really nice. this is probably a once in a life time opportunity because things just aligned right.
ive been looking at everything under the sun but ive found 2 cars that i really like.
one is a 2016 m5 very rare flat red abit like the old imola red (tbf i love it) comp pack around 35k on the clock at a dealer stunning.
the other is as 2011 Aston rapide 40k on the clock grey and black frankly its just stunning to look at.
now both are the same price.
it will be parked on the drive
used as an every day (not for work) aprox 5-8k per year
ive never kept any daily car more than 2 years. the only one being an older m5 v10 that i just loved. most last about 9/10 months.
i think i know the answer to my own question but hear me out.
the aston is probably very price stable
it also has more sence of occasion
the bmw is faster and newer and ther for is more up to date tech wise.
the bmw will depreciate faster than the aston but the aston is probably harder to sell.
so what would you do and why.

Neither, a 4.7 quattroporte sport GT S is what you need.
But if it has to be one of those two, I’d go Aston. M5, whilst very accomplished, is just a fast 5 series.

For me it would be the Aston because I love Aston Martins, it will probably be the harder sell when you come to move it on as its probably one of the less desirable ones but still you only live once.
Both cars have potential to throw big bills anyway so I'd say just go with your heart on it.

Not all Astons are expensive to run. I have had 2 vantage coupes and currently have an early 2008 4.7 roadster. I have had this car since new. In that time it has had tyres,brakes and pads. Brakes and pads (Brembo) usually purchased from Eurocarparts with discounts codes. It has had an ecu replaced for the roof £700, a pipe blow for the roof £550 and a clutch replaced £3000. Other than this, just general servicing at main dealers, of. between £600- £1000.
I would get the Aston.

One is an Aston Martin, the other is a BMW. The M5 is a 5 series with a big engine at the end of the day, whilst the other was purpose built to be what it is.
Go drive both, then buy the Aston knowing you've done the right thing - then get used to people staring at the car as you drive and smiling.

The M5 is the better car (by some measure), but the Aston is an Aston so if you go for brand cachet, it wins. The rear space in the Rapide is a joke and the boot space is crap. However, the M5 is not a "once in a lifetime car", the Aston arguably is - but if something a bit more exotic were the criteria, I'd probably take the 2015 Maserati Quattroporte GTS currently on AT for £36k.
I had the M5 of the generation you refer to.
I found it lacking in driver feedback and it felt remote.
Also, it is extremely fast, but with no sensation of speed (at lower speed). It only really feels gaat above 100 mph which is a moot point.
The Aston will be a much better sense of occasion and much more beautiful derived from the most beautiful car launched in the last 40 years.
