exige roof off can it be done and is it easy
Discussion
the Exige roof can be removed, but it will knacker up the rear spoiler, and mess with the astehtics of the car (the engine cover). If you want roof off experiance, go with the Elise and get the suspension setup the same as the exige, and get exige spec tyres

www.bell-colville.co.uk do a kit for it - softop + mounts etc - very easy to do ..couple of guys on SELOC have done it...looks a bit odd though IMO with roof off...but if you really want an Exige then it can be done. Personally Id go 111R + motorsport wheels n tyres
heres a nice pic

Someone on SELOC made the point about insurance too.
Exige would be insured as a Coupe, taking the roof of turns it into a Convertible.
Knackered insurane, unless you declare it, and then think how much those premiums would shoot up. Cant see an underwriter understanding that the original roof had little to do with the Tortenial stength of the car.

...i have a 111s at the moment but have found it to be a bit guttles middrange when overtaking hence the predicoment
the 111r has no more grunt than the Rover powered Elises. But is penalised by 150 kg more weight.
I think you forgot the smile, without it people may think you are serious?

I am serious, the Toyota engine doesn´t have more torque than the K-series. The difference comes at higher revs.
Standard: 168 Nm @ 4500 rpm
111s: 175 Nm @ 4650 rpm
111r: 181 Nm @ 6800 rpm
My car is a standard S2 with a custom manifold, sport cat and Bastuck sport exhaust. It was tested at 185 Nm @ 3950 rpm at Emeralds RR.

Of course, you could do it on a s/c Exige as well...
AKAIK the present position of the supercharger (heightwise) makes a s/c Toyota Elise unlikely.
Saw one of the conversions while at Le Mans. Extremely neat: windscreen header rail is identical, you need to drill 2 holes in the rear header and clip in a couple of fastenings and then the standard soft-top fits fine. B&C happy to supply the soft-top and do the work as long as you sign a disclaimer - the Exige is not type approved as a soft-top. Don't worry about aerodynamics: the roof air scoop is a dummy and the spoiler is mounted to the tailgate (S1 spoiler goes thru bodywork for a direct chassis mount). Besides, viewed from behind, the spoiler can be seen wobbling - dissipating all that nice downforce as it does so.

There is your first error, you are talking torque when you should be dealing in power and if you are overtaking you are on the top cam.
You are also not quoting figures for a 111s, you are quoting figures for a modded 111s.
Do you do any govt spin writing?
