I did read that one, but it's just non-stop bickering about EV range in general.
I'm really rather taken by the Air, so I thought it might be worth starting again in the hope of getting a conversation about the actual car, instead of just general moaning by non-EV owners about how EV's need to be plugged-in.

I think its very very interesting and seems like the first of the true Tesla-like EV to come out (Rivian being the other) where its a full on ground up car designed around the EV powertrain.
Also very interesting that they have gone for an extreme aero approach to range.
It almost looks like something you would see on the salt flats:

Huge fan of the styling. Like how a 5-series competitor from Alpine might look.
Yes, it looks rather splendid to me, inside and out. I particularly like how it's the same size as an E class on the outside but has the interior room of a S class. If they announce UK delivery timelines and pricing, I am very tempted to pre order one. It would seem it should take joint 2nd place for a production car for the quarter mile with a Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, not bad for a saloon.

Normal Car - 20 seconds? https://electrek.co/2020/09/02/lucid-air-beats-tes...
Lucid Air - 9.9 seconds.
Formula 1 car - 8.8 seconds.
After a long development time for some actual hard info.

Why am I thinking it looks like a concept Citroen? I quite like the look of it!
Of the articles and videos I have seen, it’s all about comparisons to the Model S. While I get that it makes a suitable one to compare to, I see this as something very different. But what’s the sales volume of the Model S? 15,000 a year? I see the Lucid being sold in much smaller numbers.
Before the X and 3, they had a whole range of Model S variants. What were the prices? $65k to $120k? And then consolidated and simplified to the prices they have. Makes sense, but the market for $150k+ cars is pretty small and while I know they have a cheaper model, they are going to need to figure out how to shift a volume of these things. Maybe I am not seeing the market volumes and details, but I see a lot of challenges with Lucid.

Oh look - an aerodynamic design and sensible wheels = good range.
Perhaps if other manufacturers start building proper cars instead of chunky SUVs on 22 inch wheels we might see a mainstream alternative with more than 200 miles real world range. Something like the VW ID5 looks positive.
