I knew I hadn't lost my marbles!

Many, many years ago whilst touring France my (ex)wife and I came upon a small sleepy village and a sign for a motor museum...

Time was pressing because we were making our way back to Blighty but nonetheless the lure was inescapable and we made the excursion; what greeted our eyes was insane as my pictures below show.

The years have passed and I have search many times for the reference to these cars and the museum to no avail.

Recently I stumbled across a picture of a car transporter, carrying a collection of rarities that were unearthed from a French village and subsequently going to auction.

Now I am sure that to the initiated, this is no news, perhaps even old, yawn, yawn news! but to me, having actually been there, that balmy, summers eve so many years ago, it kinda brought happy memories back.

I made a few calls to my ex, asking her to rummage amongst the attic and garages to see in my old photo album existed, and to her credit, yesterday, they turned up.

Thank you for identifying the collection and for the pictures.

I remember being jolted when I first saw them; somewhat like the first time I saw the opening sequence of the the Italian Job. Some of the cars appeared to have been vandalised to present them artistically; perhaps not, I don't know, I do recall a tramp figure sleeping in the back of the Rolls.

I'll chase down the book now. Thank you again.
