Anyone recommend an importer? Seen something in Japan at a dealership. Wondering if anyone had used an importer for this scenario. Do the likes of Torque GT only source via the auctions?

I know they provide a personal import service... might be worth giving them a call!

Presumably something too rare to be likely to pop up at auction?

I’ve looked at dealer cars before, but they are always much more expensive than auction prices. Same as they would be here I suppose.

Not mega rare, but quite specific spec. It's a Legacy Tuned by STI wagon. Face lift, pearl white, auto, 100% original.

You pay a premium with Torque GT, but it’s a selling point when you need to move it on.

Just sold the Mrs Civic FD2, 48 hours after advertising it - mainly as it was an ex Torque GT.

There is an outfit called Club Japan (based nr the Scottish borders) that has a good reputation (I have no affiliation). Gorilla Imports is a name that comes up too. What is the base value of the cars you are looking at? £10k+?

Ryan at Club Japan Imports imported my car and the whole process was great. He's on FB and quite responsive but I think he might be on a family holiday at the moment but he will respond.

Do they get legacy’s? I’ve only ever seen Impreza and forester sti on the site but it could be like you say.

i know they bring quite a few different cars in , they could possibly personally import a car of your choice in ? , they have been good to deal with which is why i have bought two off them so far and the cost of both cars was better than other imports i could find at the time

Just wondering how you're getting on mate...do you have a TBSTi on the way?!

Found one. Right spec, pearl white, late model, completely standard, less than 50k miles. It's like new (in the pictures anyway!). Just need it inspecting and shipping over. Fingers crossed. Hoping to have it before the end of the year, all being well.

Might be a delay longer than normal, depending on where you’re landing it. Demand on shipping is understandably reduced at the moment. Got this waiting on a boat for the Mrs...

Nice man, I’m very jealous!

You do highlight the point I raised in the Show of your Subaru thread though, importing a car from Japan isn’t a fast process!

It hasn't checked out/shipped yet, so fingers crossed. You still fancy one? Or still after an ISF? There's a nice one for sale at the moment. Half tempted myself smile

I'll let you know if it all works out and if it arrives!

Yeah, a Legacy would make sense for me. I just haven’t got the luxury of waiting to import one unfortunately...so, once the Foz sells, I’d just need to hope a couple of mints one suddenly pop up for sale over here!

Though, I do still really want an ISF. In my opinion that particular one is a chunk overpriced. Just before I bought the Foz, I nearly bought a very nice 2008 ISF with about 50k miles for £17k. Two years later, no way would I spend more money on a 2008 car with many more miles.

I do fancy an AMG of some kind too!

How about just getting a cheap runaround until the right one turns up? No need to spend more than £1k.

Something like a TDi Golf, cheap motoring for a few months.

I bought the silver Legacy 7 years ago, just to go to Cornwall in! It was less than £4k back then (one owner from new) and used daily in all weather. Never missed a beat. A S402 wagon would be the ultimate for me, but they are still about 3m Yen in Japan. Makes them quite dear once landed. The TBSTi with a set of 6 pot brakes will be just as good for me smile
