Hi all,

I am bringing my 2017 5.7 Hemi Challenger R/T in the UK in mid-August and I need a bit of help with the IVA testing. Does the car need a light conversion? If so, what does it involve? I am asking as I am not sure that the newest models need the detailed IVA testing or a basic IVA testing is enough?

If the light conversion is indeed needed, any recommendations on who can help? I have been given some quotes for the light conversion which seem too high.

I live in London, London/Essex/Kent areas are all OK.

It will need amber indicators, side repeaters and a rear fog light for a start, if the head lights are 'flat beam' as they are on a mustang they will be fine, if they are HID's they will need to be replaced (unless rules have changed)
I used these guys to do mine.. http://sigmaautomotive.co.uk/american-vehicles/

I also used Sigma Automotive for my Hellcat. They also sorted out the UK vehicle registration. Really neat job with no additional fog lights etc. on the rear. Just added the side repeaters on the front wings that have to be fitted. I smoked mine out afterwards so they are not that noticeable. Not the cheapest but I reckon they are the best

Many thanks for your replies, I will give them a call. But before I do this, there is no other way of passing the IVA test, not even for the newest models?

If you mean you don't want amber turn signals on the rear or side repeaters etc then no, it will not pass an IVA test without these and they are very strict

I decided to use mycarimport.co.uk , 25 % cheaper than Sigma Automotives. Any suggestions, has anyone used mycarimport.co.uk?

Personally I can only recommend Sigma.
I have seen a few Challengers with bolted on rear lights for fog lamps etc and they look dreadful.
In the scheme of things a few extra quid spent is well worth it.
Rear end looks as it did when it left the factory

Thanks for this, I will consider Sigma too if you recommend them so highly. Who did you deal with at Sigma, Ben is the guy I spoke to over the phone.

From memory (it was 14 years ago) Ben is who I dealt with, if the electrics on a Dodge are anything like on the Mustang you need to be very carefull and find someone who isn't going to bodge the conversion, when the '05> Mustangs started coming over a lot of companies were advertising light conversions etc, after a few thousand miles many had to have the wiring re-done and also a new ECU due to the bodged wiring.

It was over five years ago now but yes I believe it was Ben. My tech and good mate took care of most of this for me. My good friend Jon had his ScatPak done by them. He was also very impressed
