What is this car?

Does anyone know what this car is being driven by John Miles and pictured in the "BSM High Performance Driving" book of 1966?

I cannot figure it out and would love to know!

I don't think it's: Jag, Humber, Bentley, Austin, Rover, Triumph, MG, Hillman, Vauxhall, Ford....

Whatever it is, the interior is nice.

The cranked gear lever rules out Aston Martin and all of the other British coupes I could find. I thought it may be more of a Gentleman's Express but again the gear lever doesn't match Alvis, Bristol or Jensen, so it remains a mystery.

The instrument binnacle is reminiscent of an early 60's Alfa Romeo, very Italianesque .

As an AC owner, and having had both an Aceca and Greyhound in my time, that car is definately neither; however, I cannot make a positive ID.

As ClaphamGT3 says, it is a Fiat 2300S. The car John Miles is sitting in was part of BSM's High Performance Course fleet in the sixties.

There is a photograph of this car on the grid at Brands Hatch at the press release for the Course, in April 1962. It is likely that it would have remained on the fleet until around 1964-65. The cars were replaced regularly in those days.

It can be seen on page 120 of Tommy Wisdoms book, High Performance Driving for You, along with the Course's Lotus Elan.
