Identify this older car

That’s spot on. 18hp Limousine. One of just 122 built and it is thought 21 extant.

I agree that it looks like an Armstrong-Siddeley 18, but there are subtle differences at the rear end, maybe another Armstrong-Siddeley?

We complain about all cars looking the same these days - but there we have two old cars that look remarkably similar, apart from one being obviously bigger than the other.

That is very well spotted!..I would think correct. Tail light differences were obviously much later.

Not convinced. The one in the original pic has a ‘suicide‘ front door, the shape of the rear wing is different and the back window looks bigger.

I think that's a winner - the coachline is the tell-tale (apart from the overall shape/proportions etc).
Sitting in someone's front garden in Wexford (Ireland) along with a Citroen BX and the customary Transit.
