My missus parked her Tahoe (same chassis as the Hummer) in one parking bay, and slightly into another. Result ? £40 fine for not keeping to marked parking bays !!!! It wouldn't bloody fit in one (and be able to get out of it) !!!!!!

I got a ticket for a simlar thing and refused to pay the buggers at Poole Council. I went to arbitration and some 10 months later won

Two reasons, firstly the onus is on the council to prove me guilty and I questioned the accuracy of an item of evidence and the lawyer agreed there was doubt. Secondly there is a legal concept of minimal error, or something like that, and in this context an inch or 2 out would be considered irrelevant.

The plonkers at Poole council do not use digicams and their evidence was a scrappy small pencil drawing which actually misrepresented the position in terms of the parking bay in relation to the car park entrance. I on the other hand took photos and measurements to support my case and question their eveidence.

So the moral is don't let the bastards grind you down and if you feel you have a resonable case then fight them.
