was checking my overnight ring alerts (usually domestic cats). The camera has captured an animal but I'm not sure what it is... any ideas?

Domestic ferret. Too small for a badger and wrong colour for a polecat. I don't think you'd see any wild polecats or even ferrel ferrets casually sauntering about in daylight anyway.

Look out for some missing posters or Facebook statuses as it's likely been lost locally.

I thought badger, but too small and walks more like a ferret. (I've had ferrets and they're master escape artists)

Just for some closure it was one of two missing ferrets. The first was found behind the owners garden shed. The second (the one spotted on cam) tootled up their driveway around 5pm (12hr after being caught on cam).

So... a happy ending.
