991.2 RS WP - MAG-nificent
Discussion
Hi all
Been looking at this RS incarnation and the different options (or often lack of) seems to be frustrating
We have all read much regarding the magnesium wheels. Are they really that significant to this car and the drive? In my mind they sort of go hand in hand with the Weissach pack, but I notice many cars without - I appreciate how much this particular option cost, and looks withstanding, are they worth it dynamically ?
Another head scratch is the differing scope of specs Some have both the above expensive options but sadly lack many of the vastly cheaper extras which IMO can lift the cabin dramatically and improve things in other areas.
Another observation. Quite a few have recently come to market with a heck of a spread on asking prices. Some of which bear little resemblance to the original list price re either @Strongbow or Champagne spec !! Most now seem to be with OPC's, listing 'for sale on customers behalf' Guess the asking price is largely depended on how motivated the person is to get it gone ...

There are currently 23 RS WP for sale split evenly between OPCs and independents..The asking prices vary between £250K and £220K where the £250K is a PTS grey Black however sans PCCBs which means its very over priced..Selling prices for nicely specced ones seem to be around £220K but not under from what i've been told recently..
My car has the Mags fitted which i consider to be essential from a true Weissach spec POC albeit driver needs to be extra careful if its driven on track due to kerbing issues..The PEC GT2 RS's Mags were getting so badly chipped they switched to the standard alloys for piece of mind..

Hi Jonny, I had similar thoughts back in april, i eventually decided weissach wasn't worth the extra, the main point is the Mag wheels, which can be bought further down the line if required.Been looking at this RS incarnation and the different options (or often lack of) seems to be frustrating

Spec is personal but the cars with widely desired options appeared to go quickly, for me it was a case of choosing must haves and anything over that was a bonus.
I did a lot of calling around but i did manage to find the right car for me, I was lucky as i found a motivated seller and paid minimal over list via an opc so it can/does happen

For me £165k on non PPF car and buy some BBS wheels, Antigravity/Liteblox battery, some TTX shocks and a ti exhaust, be much nicer vs a WP car for less money.Been looking at this RS incarnation and the different options (or often lack of) seems to be frustrating

No expensive wheels to bash , (ok £8k on BBS wheels is still £££ ) , no PPF to worry about, better sounding, but a much better sorted car to drive all round and put PS4S are the standard wheels for wets and Autumn driving.
I don't get the WP cars prices or the amount for sale atm !!! , and I would not want Carbon ARB's or Mag wheels or petrol filters in the exhaust, all too expensive to replace.
But yes if you go WP the MAG wheels are key to it imho a must have option.
1.45 with lap time with the mods I talk about at Hockenheim GP, that's faster than just about every thing driven there inc. a 488 Pista.
JCR in the UK is now doing the same kit as them, so full UK back up for the TTX settings now on UK tracks. And posting daft fast times at Silverstone atm.

Hi Taffy Thanks - that is very interesting re the Mags being susceptible to chips
I saw that RS at Cardiff OPC last week..Mine was also sat in the showroom after coming back from Topaz Bristol. The one for sale has Black Mags which look brilliant with the all Black exterior..Its up for £230k but i know they'll accept £220K in straight deal.

OPC and Straight deal don't go hand in hand I find.I saw that RS at Cardiff OPC last week..Mine was also sat in the showroom after coming back from Topaz Bristol. The one for sale has Black Mags which look brilliant with the all Black exterior..Its up for £230k but i know they'll accept £220K in straight deal.
paying overs in todays market is imo stupid when you can pick up a pre petrol filter car for £55k less !!! which easy cover the A-WorkS mods and then some.
offer them list, I did that yesterday when my OPC phoned me up about a 718 Spyder at £98k !!! (was not even a nice one)

The RS for sale at 199 is a 2019 car with the GPF. Holy grail is the earlier car without the filtersIMI A said:
The later car with GPF will be more noise track friendly so potentially more desirable. Is earlier car within modern day track day noise level friendly too?
Also worth a mention is that the later Gen 3 Engine cars with the GPF have a good bump in BHP, as stock they are putting out 537bhp. Once the engine has gone though it run in process it really opens up. Had a great afternoon at Silverstone this week in my Signal yellow one, now that it has a JCR set up on it. The Mag wheels are nice, but you really have to take care on the Kerbs when pushing on.The mags make a massive difference as to how it goes down the road. So much so I sold my spare set of standard rims and will buy a set of Fi-r for winter with ps4s.
JCR is seriously impressed with the OPF cars and they sound amazing with one of their exhausts. I have the valved version and is mega.
I am biased but the Weissach cars with the Ti roll cage and carbon parts (visible and non) are pretty special.

I think the a-workx car would be a better car for (Probably - no clue) less money
The guys inspected a car for me last year and saved me from buying a bad car - I believe they are quite well respected (a 997.2 RS fettled by them currently for sale as well)
I'll second the recommendation for a-workx. They are very good and definitely know what they are doing. The guys inspected a car for me last year and saved me from buying a bad car - I believe they are quite well respected (a 997.2 RS fettled by them currently for sale as well)
To the OP, yes lighter wheels especially (far more than ceramic brakes that most people cream themselves over for example) do make a difference but tbh you need to try the difference for yourself to be able to judge whether it's worth the price. mag wheels are awfully expensive and a pita to take care off tbh, imo they aren't worth the trouble compared to a really top quality alloy BBS wheel.
