War of the Worlds!

Just booked my tickets for the 1st showing at the local flicks. Can't wait to see it, hope it's not a let down. I used to listen to the tapes over and over as a kid - loved it! Anyone else excited like a small child!

Roll on the 1st July.....:)

I'm confused. Some of the trailers say 1st July, others say 8th July.

We went to the cinema 3 times over the weekend (had a backlog of films we wanted to catch) and each one had a different trailer for War of the Worlds and 2 sais 1st July and the other said 8th July.

Strange.

Hmm, Well our local one is a MyVue so perhaps different chains have different dates perhaps??

This was 3 visits to the same cinema over 3 consecutive days.

I was listening to the War of the Worlds soundtrack at our campsite in Le mans last weekend, 3am, Saturday, a few bottles of good wine, one of Havana's finest and spine tingling music. Priceless.

Is this one true to the book, set in England? Or a remake of the one set in the States?

Good stories are always worth looking at again.

So far there have been at least four landmark versions of "War of the Worlds" - the 1890 novel, the 1938 radio play, the 1953 film and the 1978 concept album. All have been quite good in their own ways. Hopefully, the new film will live up to the tradition.

I think it's mainly set in the US. I don't really mind - although it would have been nice to see Woking wiped out

Directed by Spielburg, so I doubt that.
