my parents had one until my mum forgot it was a whirlpool, and put bubble bath in it

Noise is an issue. Sit the bath on anti-vibration dampers. Install sound attenuation around the void. Just buy a standard bath, say Bette and get your local Travis Perkins to drill the holes where you wnat them and supply the pump and associated stuff. Job done, lie back and relax in the bubbles. 
Thanks people, it's given me a few things to think about.
I'm in a flat and need to be careful of noise. Also the ones I've been looking at are a fair bit cheaper than the BettePool one mentioned, for example the light (which I'd have to have because it amuses me) costing about £200 compared to £900. There's usually a reason for big differences like that!

No - you are right. There's paying for quality, and then there's paying through the nose!
I've got one in our en-suite. It's great. I'd advise going for the biggest bath you can get into the slot (I went for an 1800mm double round ended)
Admittedly it's a tad noisy but not loud enough to be an issue. Anyway, add 2 people and a bottle of something and the noise will be the furthest thing from your mind

You're disgusting! My mum and dad had a corner bath with jacuzzi put in when I still lived at home (about 20 years ago. Yeah I know technology has improved since then).
It was great for the first two months or so, seeing how much bubble bath needed to be added before the foam reached the ceiling. It did sound like Concorde was landing on top of the house and people downstairs would complain that they couldn't hear the tele when it was on (in a large 1930s 3 bed semi). Once the novelty wore off, no-one used the jacuzzi.
My house also has one and it's a right royal pain in the bum. We never use the jacuzzi, again because of the noise it makes. All the old water gets stuck in the pipes and have to be cleared out every week or they start to smell.
As soon as money permits redecoration of the bathroom the bath will be replaced with a bog standard one. I'd never have another jacuzzi bath.

I've got a Jacuzzi bath actually made by Jacuzzi and it's fantastic. Noise not really a problem at all, cost was though four large ones !!
Just don't make the mistake I did when I first used it though, I put loads of bubble bath in, left it running, came back and the whole bathroom was like something out of a carry on film...bubbles evrywhere big style !
Totally recommend them but look at the ones mad by the Italian firm Jacuzzi though.
Two controls on the side that adjust the pressure.
But go for it !!!!!
