Tonight on the way home from work the wife called and asked if i could pop in to the local tescos, when i left there was a couple stood next to my car and told me they had seen the other car back staight into mine and the just drove away.

The other car has put a large split along the back above the number plate, and then drove off, lucky for me a passer by saw the whole thing and got the cars number, then waited for me to return and passed the other cars reg onto me, and has offered to be a witness. I have alredy spoke to the police and they are treating it as a faliure to stop, unless the driver pitches up and reports it in the next 24hrs. I cant belive that first someone can hit another car and not realize, and also when you do you have not got the guts to stick around to fess up and take the blame. The police cannot tell me the details of the other driver but have said the registration matches the make/ model/colour of the other car, and i will make damm sure they prosicute them.

I have to go to the police in the morning to formally report it then I am off to westovers to get an idea of the best place/ way of repairing the damage, i think it will only need a repair but my main concern is that it is repaired and sprayed back to its original condition, those that know the car know the standard of repair i am looking for.

I am going to the dealer first can anyone suggest the best place in the south (money no object as i will be on the other cars insurance) to get it seen to.

Stay safe

Well done the other couple, pity there aren't more public spirited citizens around....

No doubt the driver will claim in his defence he didn't know (or hear) he had hit you......(Possible but unlikely)

Unlucky mate, at least you have witnesses. Here's hoping it's not an uninsured driver and you don't have issues.

If you don't mind a bit of a drive Miles & Ian at Fibreglass Services in Arundel will do a sterling job on repairs - top boys!

Hi-

Same thing happened to me. Just had my Elan resprayed, looked gorgeous - went for a walk round a nearby lake with my g/f, only gone an hour. Came back and there's a massive great big hole in the front shell where some...person...had reversed into it with their towbar/low exhaust. No witnesses, couple of hundred quid later it looks ok again.

I live up in Manchester so can't recommend anyone dwon there but hope you get it sorted soon...pleased you've got witnesses...

Have been away in Exeter for the past 2 weeks and saw a volvo parked very close to my arse when i left for work in the morning but it was the last car on the row so thought, surely they will just reverse and get loads of clearence.. obviously not, piling it into my car was much more fun, so now have cracked rear clam.. did they leave their name, did they shit.. grr gonna have to claim on insurance now - y do ppl do this just cuz it will make their policy go up £50 they think its ok just to drive off. makes me sooooooo mad..

I always park as far away as possible from other cars in car parks. Too many people who cant reverse around the place.

At lease you had a witness.

Sorry to hear your news squirrel.

Just1, How is it going, have the police got the tw@t?

I am keeping my eyes open for the culprit.

I wont even park my car at tescos and I have a deal with the guy at the work carpark, costs me a crate of beer a month but he lets me put my car right next to the security area.

Dont park in supermarket car parks ever if you can avoid it! I used to work as a porter in Asda a few years ago and saw/heard of so many cars getting damaged. Most common instances were:

1. People opening car doors into the side of others
2. People driving into other cars while trying to park (mainly women)
3. People dumping a trolley, wind gets hold of it or its left on a slope, and it hits a car.

Once I even saw someone drive an old Cavalier severel times into a brand new Porsche then drive off!

If you must go, park by yourself away from other cars and trolley bays and shop fast.

One of my first cars was a Mk1 Mr2. I did a full restoration job and she was perfect. Within a week of the re-spray it was keyed end to end and I could guarentee that in the space of 3 months it would get keyed again. It was only worth £2.5k at the most!

People in this country believe that if they cant have it you shouldnt be allowed it. I hate the lazy barstewards, they wont get their arse off the sofa to earn the car but the people who do are posers and scum!

I am also lucky that the wifes car is a pajero, so that is used for parking in town / shopping etc. Strangly enough, that was keyed (Badly) a month ago. There is no hope. I am selling my old Del sol and that has been keyed as well. I am getting so pi$$ed of with this country. I will either have to get a house in the countryside with no neighbours and a few big dogs or emmigrate!

I would not have baught the liz unless I had a secure garage and I will not park anyware I cant keep an eye on it. So far no scratches, dents, dings, door marks, trolley scratches etc. Just a front clam that looks like it was the clay at a skeet shoot.

Beware, there is a whole world of gits out there.

I have broken the rule once or twice and parked at ASDA. I park at the most distant end of the carpark away from all cars and sprint around the shop. Those who know me will realise how seriously I take it if I am running!. I generally leave the dog in the car for added protection. I returned to find chav motors parked on the door handles. They somehow believe that thier car is as cool or somehow it will be cool parked next to mine. You have to picture this, There is no cars for 50 yards and this moron is parked so close I had to take the roof off to get in my car. Chav idiot arstra...

At the moment I am climbing the walls waiting for my car to come back from her "operation".

Rant off...

Sadly Gooby you've got the right idea, although since every car you own has been keyed it sounds like you've pis$ed someone off. Think everyone has a got a story about a car getting damaged in a car park other than people who use public transport when shopping.

I wonder when someone is going to come up with a car security system which has multiple digital cameras positioned on the perimeter of the vehicle activate when the car feels an impact.

B*ll*cks to taking a picture - I want one of those South African "grill the er" flamethrowers which napalms upwards from the sills.

Key my car and you'd better hope to god I don't catch you at it because you will get beaten from here to kingdom come if I do.

Similar thing happened to me. I used to park on the road outside my old flat. Then I moved and had secure parking, but the very last night it was bumped and somebody in a white car had scraped all down the side and split the rear bumper. It looks from the curves like they've had two goes at it as well!

I went back at the same time each Sunday for two weeks ready to flip out on somebody but no white cars at all, let alone any of my blue paint anywhere. Bastards. Nail this guy to the wall!

You were very lucky to get a witness for that. There are still some good people left then! Hope it's sorted soon.

Please no-one say they park over 2 spaces and start a war!

S Works, fibre glass & plastic. That really would cause quite a mess!

Please try to keep this one in one piece.
