I'm thinking of buying a new or very recent Mini Cooper or Cooper S and I'm looking for some advice.

Most of the magazine articles state that the cars are quality, well made products but I've recently read they're prone to rattles and squeaks. As I'm very sensitive to such annoyances can anyone advise?

All so I'd be very interested in your comments concerning general build quality, paintwork, dealer service etc., as I feel I've made a big mistake with my current Toyota.

One final question, the Mini allegedly suffers minimal depreciation, but has this been borne out by people actually selling their car on?

Thanks,

Andy

Go and test drive a couple - my Mum was looking at getting a cabrio - loved it, apart from the rear visibility with the hood up, something she only discovered on a test drive.

It's the only way way for you personally to find out if you'll like the cars...

My wife has had a mini cooper S and now has a mini cooper s cabriolet. IMO they are excellent cars to drive and are not expensive to run. We had the first car from new, ran it for 21,000 miles and 20 months. Depreciation was £4,000 part exchanging for a new car. Based on experience with depreciation on other cars, we thought this was very reasonable.

Cabriolet is a hoot but does have a few minor rattles which were not experienced with the hatchback.

Good luck

I had a new Mini Cooper for 18 months and did 35 thousand miles in that time. Not only was it absolutly fantastic and I miss it a bunch but it only lost £1500 in value when I traded it back to retailer!!! It is true that they do develop a few rattles but BMW are great and will sort them out FOC as and when they occur BUY BUY BUY

If you can afford it get the sport and the best sterio available ( I had the Harmon Kardon one at the time and it rocked)
