WA to ban radar detectors?

Looks like its being pushed through with lazy legislation that could also be used to fine ppl for GPS or phones.
I suppose the Police coffers are empty with no traffic because of coved.

Keep hearing how Waze might be caught up in this. Not sure how given it's not a detector but well see.
I have noticed recently camera inputs into Waze aren't registering or disappear after being entered. Also have seen a few cameras that aren't on Waze even though it's obvious these normally would.

Makes me think of France. I recall reading when they had a clamp down, it was on detectors and anything that alerted to a location (satnavs for example). If you have a phone/ sat nav in your car and the Frenchies find that a feature is turned on, even if not in use, having the item in your car could be seen as probably cause or something daft.

Whichever way you look at it, owning/driving anything with a hint of a loud pedal is utterly pointless in WA... you can't drive 'em... anywhere, you can't put your foot down, there are no roads worthy of a trip, every other twonk can't drive, merge or perform anything resembling strong driving manners, speed limits are ludicrously low, the blue light brigade are nazi's and the prices of anything nice are laden with luxury car tax and stealership mark-ups. It's all rotten to the core for pure petrolheads. Unless.... you wear a mullet, are partial to a V8 and want to flush your clean driving licence down the dunny, with all the other boganians. I am right.
NSW not WA. But the police are hot on it here too. I drive a van daily, but got the Caterham out the other morning to head to an appointment. Speeding fine by a motorbike cop sat on a footpath before i even got to where i was going. Arse.
It's got me many a fine unfortueately. Not local to a track, which is a big shame. I think I currently have 8 points, not all speeding mind.

On a recent trip back from kalbarri I was on the "notorious" Indian Ocean Drive, no one around, perfect conditions, cruising at 20km/h over the speed limit.
I saw a car coming toward me and thought "hmm, that could be a Police car" so eased back down to only just above the speed limit and sure enough it was a Police car. The driver simply flashed his headlights as he passed, letting me know thet he knew I was going a bit too fast.
Good old fashioned traffice police work - A camera wouldnt have been so kind!

Now if you had a detector you would have known he was there before he even saw you. Anyone else noticed their Waze no longer has the ability to tag things when running through carplay?
Tried to do it this morning on the way to work and I diddnt even have the orange tag icon, let alone the ability to mark a Police location.
Hopefully its just my phone/waze being crap and not an update as a result of this daft new law.

The truth is radar detectors do work, but are a waste of time and money.
I would aim my radar gun at a car I thought was speeding, but not pull the trigger.
The moment I pull the trigger and record the speed of the car to put on the citation, is the exact same moment the radar detector in the car will go off.

My old radar gun would detect if the signal was being jammed, and on one occasion I estimated the speed at about 60 in a 30 but the jamming signal caused my gun to read 96. So that's what went on the ticket NMNeil said:

And me, 10 cars behind really gunning it would catch some scatter and ease off. I would aim my radar gun at a car I thought was speeding, but not pull the trigger.

And when you are in the car asleep with the tripod out, I'd get several km notice.
And when you are cruising about with the car camera on, I'd also get notice and ease off. So when our paths crossed I was a nice sensible driver (till you got round the corner).
I still do all this, I now just need to look at the road more and even lass at the speedo.
