Is it normal to get uneven tyre wear on the front of the GTS/GTS-R's ?
The inside of fronts is worn right through to the carcass, should I be getting the tracking or something else checked ?

Hi Malc, Mine have always worn totally even. Set up may be different on an R. The rear is for sure, but I wasn't aware that the front was. We both know a man who will know!

Your front tracking is the same as a UK Spec GTS and the rear is different from the UK GTS..........

Here is the info you need..... www.hsvdriversclub.co.uk/vt-tracking.pdf

Malc, pretty sure that both the fronts are the originals (at 27000 miles !!!!)so they are probably not too far out. Hope you're enjoying the car as much as I'm missing it.

Count,

I have a VX GTS (Ozspec = GTS-R UK) and that has no problems on front. It does however wear uneven (inside) on the rears.

Note that your GTS-R will be very sensitive to front/rear alignment due to the multilink rear suspension.

When HSV ship them from the factory they should give a sheet with the initial alignment figures on it.
I had mine aligned to the spec Jagsy gave me...lo and behold they where identical.

My specs may be different from yours as the suspension was revised for the VX, but I would expect that good front/rear alignment to the specs will cure the problem.

Cheers
Eric

You need to get the tracking sorted. I cut the inside of the offside front tyre a while back. A new tyre was the penalty about 4000 miles ago and since then no problems. Mark at Lindens has the tracking specs.

I have ordered the strut brace from Demon tweeks, should I get this fitted and then get the tracking done, or will it not affect it ?

I don't have a strut brace fitted.

Probably would not matter, but I'd fit the brace first.

To counteract understeer and compliment the 2.5 of neg degrees on the rear suspension i have found that 3 degrees neg on front is perfect.Front tyrres done 17k but they are Pilot Sport which do have a long wear life!!!!!

I have taken your advice panoma, got the report which I must run past you sometime - no more understeer, can handle like a go kart at times, elecric precision at speed, just need to re-learn how to drive it, certainly coped with some very hairy over taking manouvres on the way to Le Mans. The car handles so well I have temporarily forgotten other issues, mind you the coilover set-up has a lot to do with it no doubt.

Sorry back on topic, the rears wear in the middle for some reson (36 psi) but that aside tyre wear has been even over 36,000 miles and laser alignment tracking 3 times to date
