Where to stay in Milan..Monza GP

Hello folks,

As per title, me and some frinds are going to Milan for 1 week for the Monza GP and some partying, none of us have been before etc.

Does anyone here know any decent hotels that are within easy reach of bars/clubs resturants etc, i've had a quick look over the web and it seems that the nightlife areas are around Navigli, but I can't seem to find any hotels around there......

Also where can I jet cheap flight from, do people like easyJet Ryan Air fly to Milan, and if so which airport as I've heard that there are two.

I went to Milan last September for a few days and stayed right beside the main train station. We flew with Ryanair into Milan Bergamo, I think the actual name of the airport was orio something. There was a cheap (10 Euros) bus service from outside the airport to right outside central station, which was ideal for us and it only took about an hour.

The Milan underground train service is excellent, we used it to get to the nightlife and got a taxi home. The taxis were reasonably priced.

If you are interested in football and you will be there during the football season, you should find out if either of the milan teams are playing at home while your there. As long as its not the derby you would easily get tickets at the stadium. Its a fantastic experience. Don't bother visiting the castle, its a glorified pigeon house.

I wouldn't worry too much about not getting a hotel right beside the nightlife because taxis won't be expensive if there are a few of you.

I went to Milan last year. Stayed at a hotel called the Albert (or something like that) next to the central railway station, great value booked through www.hotelconnect.co.uk

Taxi from Bergamo airport was about 32 euros as I recall.

We used the Milan tube (which had little bouts of staff going on strike while we were there) but taxis were cheap enough.

Don't miss the Duomo, they let you sit on the roof and eat your lunch, which I can't see York Minster letting you do!
