Recently had a service at TGM, great service from Tom the owner. Very chatty and knowledgeable. I am trying to contact him to do more work on my S2K, which we discussed at the time. I just cannot get hold of anyone, calling their landline, leaving email messages for the last few weeks..

I know allot of people use them, anyone know if they are still there? or just very very busy..

Thanks
G

I have had similar experiences when the vtec valve failed on my FN2, in the end i gave up ordered one and fitted it myself which is quite awkward on this model compared to the EP3 & DC5.

Previous experience with Tom is its much better to just turn up first thing in the morning and chat with him. Not ideal though as its a 100 mile round trip but i knew my vtec valve failed as he told me after reading the error code and showed me where it was located, did not charge a penny so was keen to get him/TGM to do the work but it did feel like they could do with bigger premises and a few more staff.

Best time to get hold of him is when they first open in a morning. Phone

Great bunch of people, very helpful in fact he went out of his way to fix a problem I had. By far the best experience I've had with mechanics. Doesnt really do facebook or email.

TGM and Tom are great. Looked after my high mileage s2k for years.

I find sending them email and waiting a few days works for me.

I don’t normally negatively comment on this forum but I’ve used TGM twice since I’ve owned my DC5 and I can’t say I’m impressed with the service so far.

The first time I used them it was before lockdown, there was very little communication, it was me who had to chase on progress (weeks went by with nothing). Once I “lost my patience” over the phone the work seemed to happen very quickly.

I gave them the benefit of the doubt as they have a good reputation on this forum.

Over the lockdown I had other issues which I needed sorting. I called them, explained the situation and asked if they had availability.
I was told they had.
5 weeks later I’ve not had any update. I’ve chased and I’m my opinion “fobbed off” with excuses.

I know we are in difficult times but I’m not impressed and don’t think I’ll be using them again if I’m honest.

If you're based in and around London/Essex/kent, I'll recommend R2 Automotive in Tilbury. Used Tgm once before also but since been using R2 for a few years now. Great team of guys and excellent service from them always. You can check their FB page to see some of the work they do.

I must admit i have had similar experiences with them, they have been brilliant when i have used them on occasions and the owner has gone out of his way giving me a lift to the train station, not charging for reading fault codes and the test drives after (well over an hour in total) but have also had pretty poor service over the phone and nobody wants to call you back or book you in.

Having had a look in the workshop with the owner to show me an engine i think they are just simply too busy, every inch is used with huge ongoing projects like a Ferrari rebuild, K20 mini's, MK2 Golf's etc all completely stripped and being rebuilt. They also have a racing team.

Depending where you are these guys in Watford have a very good reputation

Good to know, as they are up the road from me.. Do they work on S2000's also?

They have a very good reputation among the S2000 community - so much so they’re more or less regarded as the go to for S2000s. I have no direct experience though.

I am also in the same boat now and its interesting to hear i am not alone. These are testing times and its not really in my nature to post negative comments. Try and deal with things offline. Very much having to do all the chasing. Have been taking the DC2 there for many years now. Very friendly and knowledgeable and until now received a good service. This time however it seems to be taking much much to long and the updates I am getting are only after pressing.

Car was dropped off mid summer for service, mot, bushes and a few other small bits and bobs and also a quotation on the rear arches. We are now end of October and car still with them. I am still waiting for a price on arches.

I also heard that they are suffering from staff issues.

Would have much preferred if i was told from the start not to come down due to the delays. Rather disappointed.

Mirrors my recent experience too. Not that impressed I'm afraid which is a shame.
