Went to the motorexpo today. It was the first chance I've ever had to sit in an elise/exige. How do you guys manage to get in and out????? I'm about 5'11" (avergae build) and it felt like i was putting myself through a letterbox! To be fair, once i was in it was a nice fit, very snug, but i just couldn't see myself getting in and out on a daily basis without pulling a muscle or something by accident :D

Is there a technique to getting in and out without looking like you're just falling out if it?

everyone has their own technique. to get in i open door (good start) put left leg in while holding windscreen frame with left hand and then with right hand on door sil slide down the back of the seat. of course much easier with roof off

you just get the hang of it - try not to twist your knees and you will be fine !

It's do able on a daily basis. Getting in - left leg in, right hand (fingers toward cockpit) underneath you for support, flop into seat
Getting out you just gotta think "I can do this!" I actually enjoy both manoevres now. I try not to put any pressure on the windscreen, doors , steering wheel. oh and I'm 6'2.

And i can't sleep.

The getting in and out is not important, put it on the road and you will know why. Also no skirt wearing girl cant get in or out without flashing thier knickers.

You know you are good when you can make it look graceful. I look like spam being forced out of a can!

LMAO at this thread!

thought it was only me that felt like he'd dropped from a height into the seat the first time i did it.

i just didnt' expect it to be 4" below the sill level - came as a bit of a surprise tbh

DING Apparently with deft adjustment of the drivers door mirror you can get a fine view whilst "averting" your gaze

Drivers side is easier to get in/out of. Left leg in as far as it will go, pivot hips, grab wheel with left hand, sill with right and lower yourself in, hauling in right leg as you go. If you find this hard without flopping into it like a beached whale, do some tricep dips and improve your arm strength

Getting out... right leg-over, left hand on wheel, right on seat/B pillar and haul-ass!

just picked up my 1st elise saturday so this topic is very close to me at the moment.

i'm finding getting out not too bad already, getting in i'm still struggling. i keep impaling myself on the door catch that sticks out, which bleeding hurts!

gonna have to try some of your methods next time i get in.

glad to here that it becomes easier with time though!

I have a feeling the windscreen surround is plastic/fibreglass (on an S1 anyway) so prob not a good idea to use that as a handle unless you keep your hand low to the bonnet/wing top

can get in and out of drivers side no problem, its the other side that just does not feel natural, hence wifey does not get much time behind the wheel. Good thing!!!!!!

I'm 6ft 4, so most should be able to manage.

Windscreen surround is fine, don't press on the fibreglass you can cause stress fractures in the gelcoat.

Nah you can crack the screen if you hang off it, so don't do that! The surround is not as solid as you might think.

We sound like a bunch of flipping chimps... basically, don't swing on your Elise. If you feel the need, find a nice tree for monkeying about in

A bit late I know, but I'm like that.

I used to wind the window down which gives your head a lot more 'swing way'.

Funny thing is I found it easier to get in/out with the roof on than when it was off!!! And don't ever axe me to get into the passenger seat.....
