Considering getting a BMW Insured Warranty when the AUC warranty runs out later this month.

The quote to pay monthly works out £300 more expensive over the year.

As I understand it, the benefit of the monthly payment is that it doesn't jump up significantly once the car exceeds 60k miles?

My question is whether I'm able to pay annually up to the point I'm about to hit 60k then switch over to monthly payments if/when I come to renew.

Car currently on 50k miles and there is no chance I'll be doing 10k in the next 12 months. Even if I get to do a european road trip it'll be 5k max.

Thanks in Advance

Also look at paying a small excess. Im sure when I renewed if I took a £100 excess it cut the annual cost by £300, which would equate to three claims. So far I have only had one claim on actuator.

Thanks. Good point about the £100 excess, small price to pay towards actuators, engine or gearbox failure which are my main concerns.

Anyone have any experience of how picky they are about modifications? So far I only have the M Performance Exhaust which I would assume is fine. But thinking about AP Big Brake Kit and Akrapovic mid section. Obviously don't expect them to be covered, but also don't want them saying they won't cover engine failure because I change the exhaust.

Mind me asking what sort of figures you’re getting back, as I’m in the same position?

I’d intended to go monthly as I’m not sure how long I’ll keep the car but that seems a huge amount.

I wonder if mileage makes a difference, mines a 2013 so one of the very last on 33k.

Cheers

I’ve had mine on the fully comp AUC for the last 8 years. I pay about £70 a month for no breakdown cover and £250 excess.

I tried to change my payment date inline with a new job’s salary payments but was told if I did they would have to start a new policy which would be £85 a month. My car is on 29k miles. Might be worth bearing in mind incase the same trick applies if you switch payment type.

This is what I’ve been quoted. Currently under AUC warranty so not sure if that’s because I’m taking it out on a car that current has a warranty or whether this is just the standard price for a car under 60k miles. Mine is 2010 and on 50k.

Many thanks for posting that, much appreciated.

I'm in exactly the same position, having bought an AUC car last July.

Like the other poster I'm mainly concerned about the known biggies on these cars, I'm very careful warming mine up allowing it to get to 100 degrees before using the revs, but who knows what happened in the first six years and 30k!

In reference to your comment I do recall that once on the scheme the second year plus is cheaper. I did run a quote before getting mine and I think it was 1586 for the most expensive, i.e equivalent to 1392 now as already on AUC/the scheme etc.

I think at 793 for for no roadside/250 excess it's such a saving (227) that's what I'm likely to go for.

Cheers

My car is a 2008 on 57k. I got exactly the same offer and use it with the big excess as o see bearings as the major issue, regrettably my seatbelt butler has now failed!
