Trickle Chargers for the 911.1

Hi,

What trickle chargers do you have?

I have a 911 991.1 arriving and would like to maintain the battery. As a side note I’m about 5m away from a power source so this may be a factor.

I would also like to plug into the 12v connection on the passengers side (cig lighter adapter).

Solar?
Mains?

The standard answer to this question is CTEK.

I've got an MXS 7.0, but an MXS 5.0 would do the job nicely.

Great thanks for the reply, could I get away with 2 x extn cables connected to each other for a maintenance charge?

Yes, they draw very little power but still cables are best unwound.
If connecting under the bonnet on a 991.1 do + to battery + and - to an earthed bodybpart.

What have you earthed that to?

Steel panel next to where the horn is mounted. The hole was there, just cleaned off the paint for a good contact. It’s the fly lead that the Ctek plugs into.
I’ve used it a few times so know it works.

I have the 13 quid Lidl charger and I think it works fine. It's German or Lidl is German so.... You cant just go to Lidl and buy one because they sell out fast.

Here you can see my 981 with a Jaguar battery safely installed and I'm just testing out my £3 Lidl battery meter.

That's the correct place to put your negative according to the Porsche blurb I believe. Where I have mine connected in this pic. If you are attaching and detaching like I do with mine.

I've got the Porsche-branded version of the CTEK which comes fitted with the cigarette lighter socket adapter. Cable runs nicely from the cigarette lighter through the door jamb to the mains. Car's parked in the garage.
