Painting the Gelcoat body (UK)

Can anyone recommend the paints that work with Gelcoat???

and perhaps a trustworthy place around East Anglia to get a new paint job done...

Any car paint system will work.
What you have to do is rub it back to form a key and use an etch primer specifically for gel coat. You then apply your primer and witness coats in the paint type of your choice. You must not rub back through the etch coat or you will need to etch prime that area again.
If the body is new it should be baked first so that any bubbles in the gel , or more likely the mould lines, will burst and can be filled before any serious coats are applied.

I agree with Steve D also if I remember correctly Fibre glass needs to be cooked cooler or it can alter the shape of the mould

Also use a "Flex Additive". As the fiberglass vibrates, expands/contracts, a flex additive in the clear will help with cracking and peeling. Paint (Dupont paint) in itself is flexable, but its the clear that gets rigid.
