Out for a ride yesterday on my mtb. Using it on the road during this lockdown, so snakeskin tyres. Thankfully only about four miles away when I got that awful sound of a rotating, leaking, punctured tyre.

No problem, spare tube, I’ll be on my way in a few mins.

Oh... Presta valve. And my pump is Schrader only. How on earth did I bring that? I only have the one bike!

Extra careful in future.

Oh dear, oh dearie me. Me, I'm waiting for delivery of a presta to shrader adaptor so I can pump my prestas at a car garage.

The last time I used the Mrs Drawmer cycle recovery service was when my clever mini pump with swappable connectors just wouldn't work on the schrader valve. Turned out I'd dropped a rubber seal somewhere.

My replacement pump swaps between the two types by having a double ended hose. Much better than fiddling with tiny bits.

I've made sure for some time that I only have one type of valve (Schrader), which at least on a mountain bike is easy. I think one or several of my pumps can do both, but never tried.

It means I can easily inflate tyres with an air compressor when I do the cars.

Went out on my MTB this morning for a little road blast with the Mrs who was on her road bike. Big mistake, I'll be on my roadie next time as it was such hard work and she was constantly telling me to get a move on biggrin

I've not ridden due to injury for a long time but I was just over the moon to be out on a bike, I just made the wrong choice hehe

Try CO2 cartridges you'll never to back to messing around with a pump.

No more:
- Values coming off
- Can't get enough pressure in the tyre
- Cold hands (in the winter)

Anyone else made the switch?

Once bitten twice shy! Don't ask me how I know that pain! Now carry 2 CO2's, a pump (pocket Rocket) in the downtube and an adapter for Presta/ Sch.

Also a spare tube, self adhesive repair patches and something to cover a hole in a tyre.
Yes, I have been on a ride when it all got used

I switched after having a few punctures a few years ago, they're brilliant. The small pumps are hard work. Watch the cold on the fingers though!
