twickenham parking

am off to u2 on sunday and thanks to our marvellous public transport system will have to drive from kent - anyone know any good parking spots at twickenham?? what time does the tube close on a sunday would i be better driving then tube?

Well a good start would be that Twickers is on the train, not the tube.

Station is 10-15 minute walk from the stadium. A fast train will get you to Victoria, Waterloo or Clapham Junction in 20 minutes. I think it's worth considering, especially as the most obvious drive out is down the M3 to the M25 (ie completely the wring direction).

When I used to go to Twickers for the rugby hwah hwah we would turn off the main road and park a few streets away and walk through. That was a while ago though, so I can't guarantee that such streets are not restricted now by residents parking.

A bit cheeky, but it might be worth having a quick word with a PHer by the name of Anjum. He's just bought/taken over a pub in Twickers! I know there is parking there because there's a meet coming up.

They open up the grass 'car parks' at the side of the A316 for rugby days, but on the whole Twickenham is not great for parking and roads around that area are usually restricted. On rugby days they run special buses from Richmond, dunno about gigs though.

im going on saturday and will be parking in brentford and walking about 2miles
much better driving round the m25 and coming in. [im coming from kent too]

btw the doves and ash are supporting so it should be great

I've parked in the Stoop (Harlequins ground) just across the road from Twickenham when I've been to matches there.Also used the West car park and east car park at the ground.(are they using these for the gig?)If I remember there's a big pub on the A316 approaching the ground,I think they have rooms too, so may be able to park there if you stay over,dunno for definite though.

Hope they play from the centre of the ground..we r in the north stand..and if they are at the other end...i'll be pissed.

I've recently moved from Twickenham, otherwise i would have offered off road parking for pistonheaders .
The pub on the A316 approaching stadium is the Winning post, yes they do offer private parking for guests.
If you want to park on the road you will need to walk about 1 mile, Staines rd isn't bad, if you drive down the M3-A316 you will hit a 1 mile queue for the official car parks, the train station is about 1/2 mile.

I expect theyt'll play from South end of the stadium, acoustics ?? its too big for acoustics, depends on the wind direction
