Easy enough to make from Bowden cable and crimp on fittings. These are the bits I used for the V8S accelerator cable. Your throttle body linkage is different but it shouldn't be too difficult to find the right bits.

The channel section at the top and the brass clamp were used to make throttle connection (the third part from the top).

Top-Tip! make and extra one and put it in the boot thumbup

Cool...so does anyone know...without having to remove mine...what length the cable is for a S3 and which 'bits' I need for each end...including where I can get the white plastic fitting (appears to be an adjustment facility of some sort) that goes at the end where the cable goes in to the bracket attached to the plenum chamber???

I know i am asking a lot of questions, however, i have now set myself a 'lock down challenge' to see if i can sort a definitive list of parts to make a replacement yikes

Cheers

I would byuy something like this. Ford used that 'ball and socket' fitting on numerous cars, just a matter of finding a cable plenty long enough. Cut the little ball thing off the pedal end, you will now have an inner cable with the correct fitting at the engine end, with me so far?
Should your cable snap this can be threaded through your existing outer cable and adjuster thingy and then it's just a matter of grovelling in the footwell to fit some kind of universal nipple!
Personnally I use one of these .....

Is there a throttle pedal stop fitted so you don't strain the cable at full throttle?

Not sure what I'm looking for...have you got a picture of what I should be looking for?

Not fitted as standard which is why there are many instances of broken throttle cables.

You need to get your head into the drivers footwell and push the pedal with your hand to fully open and at the same time look at the upper part of the pedal above the pivot (or at the foot end) to see if there is a mechanical stop. TBH probably easier of the cable is unhooked at the engine end and see if the pedal falls to the floor. If it does then there isn't one fitted and you will eventually break a cable.

Maybe something like THIS would connect to the ball on the throttle plate?

If Phillpot's suggestion gives you the correct fitting at the throttle plate end all you have to do is get the length correct (use the old one) and fit a big nipple (solder or screw) to hold the other end onto the fork at the end of the accelerator pedal. Simples thumbup

My solution: a NOS Peugeot Boxer clutch cable, and a couple of hours of very satisfying tinkering.

It's strong enough that it won't break if my right foot is too enthusiastic; the pedal will bend first!

And it's SMOOTH. Internally, it's PTFE on PTFE.

SMOOTHNESS is the most important thing, with our throttle mechanicals, TPS and ECU setup. Snagging and failure to close fully are the biggest problems, after breakage

Jaye, I've put this together from bits in my shed, should sort you out and if you cut the pedal end nipple off your cable carefully you'll have a spare inner smile

I feel very re-assured now. The fan fuse socket on the fuseboard of my S3 had melted and had to be bypassed, so I used one of these 'Lego bricks' to secure the by-pass. If a stalwart on over 15k posts uses them aswell, I dont feel half as bad/guilty!

Yeah, but not for electrical things laugh

Can you keep a secret? Years ago I used "choc blocks" to do a temporary repair on the infamous yellow connector....... yep, they're still going strong wink

Should we add 'chocblocks' to Sikaflex and cable ties, as essential items in a TVR toolbox do you think?
