Hi fellas,

A Porsche forum interloper here.

I saw the write up in Evo of the one-off Lotus Sport Exige a while back. Made for a rich SE Asian fella I believe.

Anyway, it was amazing. Lots of trick race car bits on etc. And importantly, a multi-cyliner engine.

So.....are there any plans to make it ever? The article said not, but time moves on and I was wandering what the latest news was.

The new supercharged Exige will be great mind you as a comprimise. As long as one buys it in Kawasaki Green.

Hi John,

I think you know one of my work mate's I work for Clifford Chance, I was up in his office the other day and mentioned my 111R & Piston Heads and he said that he knew you ?

Anyway no unfortunately they aren't there's a Lotus Sport 240r that's available for about 44k but nothing planned as far as I know, might be a new larger car towards the end of 2006 early 2007 not good news if your in the market for a 911 replacement I'm afraid.

Hi Johnny. Hows things mate? Hope the RS is going well.

Shame your are not going to VMAX next month. I was looking forward to scaring you in the new Exige. Didnt go for Krypton Green though!

I love the Exige Sport. A seriously gorgeous car. Lotus say they will decide whether or not to build more depending on the amount of interest shown by race teams and other wealthy individuals.

I seriously hope they do build it but dont think I will be able to stretch to it even if they do.

This was discussed in "The Lotus Enthusiast" (SELOC's magazine) as Gavin Kershaw was considering using one in his racing team.

According to the mag...
The Lotus Enthusiast said:

...our pit lane sources have heard that Cadena GTC Racing would have had to buy both a new race car and another one-off road car (at est. £200k each) to meet the series entry requirements, with the road car needing to be displayed at all races to prove its road-going pedigree.

We understand that Lotus even asked the team to pay for the homologation fees on top of the investment!

So basically, Lotus could have had a crack at taking on the Porkers & Fezza's (and the Moslers which GK has now apparently bought) but piked out.

Very unlikely anyone's going to fork out c.£500k on the off-chance it might be a decent race car is it?

Shame.

Frankly I think the supercharged Exige will be a hard one to convince people to buy too. The M400 Noble's a quicker, more powerful package and you can get better performance from buying a new S2 Exige, chuck away the 'yota lump and stick a supercharged Honda in it.

Lotus - WTF are you playing at?

Hi Boggy,

Thanks for the info. Shame about the Sport Exige.

Clifford Chance......was it Martin? Or it could be one of the Porsche lads from track days maybe?

Hi David,

I bet you will scare a few people at Vmax in your new wheels. The car looks lovely on your profile. Are you going to any normal track days? I am off to Donington tonight for a PCGB track day tomorrow. Very excited.

In terms of the Sport Exige, I'm not sure I would replace my RS with one, but the cars share similarities......aiming for low weight, 6 cylinders, trick parts (mine has air jacks and carbon rear wing!). If they made a slightly toned down road version for 55 grand I think people would buy them instead of Nobles.

Yes mate I plan to do a few track days (it would be rude not to)

Noble may be in trouble when Lotus bring out the new Esprit, buy god knows when that will be!

I would just like to point out that the GT car that GK drives is NOT HIS.

neither was the Elise he drive in last year, it belongs to Paul and Barry Whight.
