I went to an advance preview last night. I get invited to lots but can rarely be bothered to go.

Glad I did last night though!

This Batman film is absolutely brilliant, and I don't use the word lightly.

It is a very adult film, not really for kids at all. Totally different in feel to any other Superhero film I've ever seen. Very gritty, wonderfully shot and really powerful emotionally.

One of the best films of any genre I've seen in years.

Christian Bale really stood out in American Psycho, really good actor when given a good role imho!

Looking forward to this film. After the original two films with Michael Keaton, the Batman idea went down the toilet

Hope they are back on form with a darker, more violent portrayal of Batman.

Going tonight, can't wait!!

Love the Burton Batman movies and this looks just as good (but different)

From the minute they cast Bale I knew he'd be perfect, got the moody 'tortured-hero' thing down to a tee!

It's not Bale you should be excited about, but Christopher Nolan. Now there is a director who has some made some fantastic choices when film making (Memento, Insomnia and now Batman Begins). Can't wait for his next project...

This is better, much, than even the Burton films IMHO.

I do love the first as a hammy cartoon book adaptation, and actually I rather like Val Kilmer's effort for fun and spectacle.

But "Batman Begins" is so much more powerful and compelling. It is in an entirely different league in my opinion. Chris Nolan is indeed a very exciting director.

Let me know what you all think after you have seen it.

Equilibrium is under-rated, got some awful reviews on release too. A lot of people pass it off as some sort of Matrix clone, IMO though it's a great film with some excellent combat and an original concept. Bale was great in it too.

Thats a great quote

What I find is really good about the film is he starts out by being this guy who uses a drug to contol his emotions but when he stops taking it you really see a change in him but you also see his inner fight to control those emotions without the drug.

The bit that sticks out in my mind is when he really listens to music for the first time on the gramaphone, fantastic

Im going to stick the DVD on tonight and watch this again

Some people claim it has been available to download for about a week now, I cannot of course deny this…

I thought it was a decent film

I'm REALLY looking forward to this film (Batman Begins, that is, in order to avoid confusion with the thread hijack over Equilibrium )

Trouble is, my 10½ year old son also really wants to see it and I'm a little concerned about some of the reports of some of the content of the film.

My son is pretty cool and has seen all of the Lord Of The Rings films (which are all 12A if I remember correctly) and Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith (also a 12A) and I'm planning to go on, say, a Saturday morning so he has a whole day of normal life before bedtime (to reduce the possibility of nightmares).
Do you reckon that will be sufficient?

Sorry for the hijack!

As for your son, take him!! He'll love it! I doubt it'll induce nightmares in a 10 year old no matter how 'dark' it is.

I remember watching 18 rated horrors with my older sisters before I even reached double figures and whilst it did shit me up a bit, it's all part of growing up! Right?

He also lost 63lbs in weight for The Machinist!!

Lived on Tuna for weeks.

I barely recognised him when i saw the film, he really does look like someone from a concentration camp when you see him in his undercrackers. amazing that he's beefed up so well for Batman.
