I'll still never forgive BA for their handling of Concorde, and their vandalism of the planes after decommissioning to make sure none will ever be able to be restored to airworthiness again.

It's not BA's fault look at Airbus if you want to blame anyone.

What could Britain contribute to such a project today?

BAE have managed to get rid of most of their airliner manufacturing capability.

There have been many, many supersonic airliner proposals since Concorde first flew. Not one has ever come to fruition.

The BA Concordes were totally looked after whilst they were in service. If they had fitted mud guards (or whatever they are called) the incident wouldn't of happened. The BA Concordes were fitted with these extra parts as it had already been seen as a design weakness and had happened in the past.

Air Frog needed rid of the loss making Concorde because of their impending tie up with the German Air Force. This disaster gave them their exit.
