I was listening to Radio 1 this morning and they played a trailer for "Punk Week" to mark the 30TH anniversary of The Sex Pistols first every gig.....
30 YEARS :yikes: I was 12, where has my live gone? I grew up (1976-78) listening to punk music, it makes me so sad to think that it's been consigned to history.
Worse bit was they consider Green Day the "new" punk....Feck off Green Day are not punk, the lead singer wears eyeliner FFS!

Yeah, I thought it a bit odd to name Basket Case as the most punk song ever
Yeah its a great song and one to make the right foot heavier, but surely Anarchy in the UK is the one?

Just spreadin' the love mate. I personally think that Nervy is incredibly funny - but most on here think he's just... strange. I've decided to root for the underdog.
In fact - I AM going to change my log in name to BDumTish and become Nervy's virtual-punchline-trumbone...

As I was standing fifteen feet from Suggs, and Madness launched into "Don't Watch That.." somewhere in a forest this last weekend, the guy next to me sighed loudly and said "I've waited twenty years to hear that!". It made me smile - just before a pint of beer flew through the air and soaked me.

Surely Pretty Vacant is the archetypal punk song since it got away with a very aggressive intonation of the C You Next Tuesday word. Having said that, maybe Sid Vicious' destruction of My Way was more symbolic of the attack on establishment stuff....although killing his girlfriend was fairly anti-establishment too.
