TVR's newly appointed head of marketing, ex Tuscan racer and PH's "bosscerbera", Phil James seems to have er....... left the company.

This is a shame as I found Phil to be a really helpful guy and was actually communicating with people...............

Good luck Phil.

Very frustating news this as we had built a very good relationship with Phil and we finally had a good flow of information going.

Strong rumours that BS is once again out of the frame too.

Is this in any way related to the Sagaris that rolled at Goodwood about 10 days ago?

A blue Sagaris got sideways in a gravel-trap at the Goodwood circuit and rolled. The roof was cut off and the driver got away with a broken rib or two.

I'm sure I've been told that it wasn't Phil James, but that could be wrong.

Best wishes to the driver etc, but don't see why that should result in a push of a senior figure...even if it was Phil and he stuffed it, surely not the way you run a company?

I for one am beginning to get worried. NS hasn't done anything really wrong, but he hasn't done a whole lot right either...whilst quietly improving quality the staff turnover is not so good...

Speculating wildy:

If it was a TVR employee and if the car in question was the press car (as seen at Monaco I believe) and if there was no official permission to run the car on the Goodwood track I could see someone getting annoyed. Especially when you consider that revenues in the last year have been small due to the low output (zero cars for six months of the last year) and the company was not in good shape before. £50k+ of car is a lot to throw away without prior approval.

Fair point Archie.

In that situation, if I was NS, the driver would be for the high jump, no questions.

I'm sure IF it was the press car, that it was allowed to be tracked. I went in a press car at Silverstone (with Phil driving) - lots of journos have ragged them around the track too. I'm sure the two incidents are not linked.

Still, lots of turnover... (no pun intended)

Yup Trefor. I was focussing on the 'no agreement to run the car' bit...

If that is what happened, then a bit of a mess.

Thanks Pauline. Was worried that that particular theory was running away with itself a bit there!

I spoke to Phil yesterday and he didnt mention anything about the rolled Sagaris so I think that's just wild speculation.

Hi:

It was not me at Goodwood - I was sorry to hear about the incident but know nothing about it. If I go to track days, I have my own weapon of choice... which I took to Kirkiston in Ireland last Friday.

First day of unemployment ... went to Ireland to help TVR dealer. Lot to be said for being gainfully unemployed. Enjoying a rest this week but I'll be back in the car world shortly.

I've been desperate to play with my Lambo all year but haven't had time. Just taxed it ... and now it's raining, so I'll be out in a Cerbera instead. Business as usual....

Sounds like madness to me, and I do get the feeling that NS isn't exactly making great inroads into improving the company.

Personal opinion only but, as someone else has said, TVR don't seem to be pulling their lines together with any real focus. If the plan really is to expand into other countries to a larger extent then you've got the usual problems with handbuilt cars are going up against the big german companies (Porsche, for example). Couple that with a product range that is all fairly similar and without the heritage of the Porsche branding on a global scale and I can't see the little guys from Blackpool competing.

Worrying times I'd say.

Come on Phil. If you're just a regular ph'er now, can't you tell us what happened?

For what it's worth I only heard positive things about your appointment. I'm sure everyone will be really sorry to hear that you're not involved anymore.
