R I P the cat followed Chelsea since the late 1960s Peter Bonetti was one of my all time hero's thanks for some great memories rest in peace

He was in a care home suffering with Dementia up here in the West Midlands. I have a couple of pictures kicking a ball with my grandson who was visiting his great grandfather that was about four years ago. Wicked shame RIP Peter one of the greats

Just a couple of weeks ago, I was sorting through some old stuff and found the signed photo of him I got back in early 1970, when he and Geoff Hurst opened a sports shop in my local town. My old man knew the shop owner and we went in the back door to meet them both.

As a kid had the 'keepers shirt with the black V at the neck and the green cotton gloves. Great keeper and but for Banks' brilliance between the sticks would have got a lot more England caps. Much maligned in Mexico of course but as an 8yo, I never understood the enormity (then) of it - I just thought Uwe Seeler looked a bit like our manager.
